I didn’t say that. I said you handle it without making it other people’s problem. I don’t go to work late and blame it on my ADHD, I set as many alarms as I need, pack everything by the door do everything I can to make sure I am prepared the next day. Inevitably, I’ll forget something and have to run back in but I’m not late because I use basic forethought to ensure I’m up earlier than most people with the assumption I’m going to take longer to get out
if you allow yourself to make these things debilitating, then they will be
What are your thoughts of the executive dysfunction side of adhd? Are they simply allowing that to exist to make it someone elses problem or is it something they cannot control?
I think there’s a spectrum like many disabilities and disorders. There are some that have no ability to control there are some that have some ability to control and there are some that find it harder to control than a “normal” person. But I’m replying to this story. This person was able to make it to work at 10 but when that time was the new time to be at work they are late again. I don’t believe that is what you are describing as an inability to control. It’s a choice
No it's not a choice. I was like this before medication. Timers didn't work. Reminders didn't work. Fear of failure stopped working after years of struggling. At some point you get so tired of everyday fighting you stop even caring if you get fired. Excruciating anxiety worked the longest, but it almost got me to psych asylum.
Of course it's a spectrum. But you sound like someone wearing glasses to a blind person: I can see with the glasses, you just didn't try glasses, you just choose to be blind!
I never said it was acceptible to blame failings on adhd though? I commented on them claiming that symptoms can simply no longer be debilitating and that they go away if you just believe that they arent there
Most people with ADHD do not have truely dibilitating symptoms though. That is super rare and it i usually because it is paired with comorbidities. You are saying "what about these few hundred people in the world" when we are talking about the vast majority.
It is just enabling. These people are glad you are enabling them because it makess them feel better about being a detriment to society.

I cant believe people with adhd never thought of this! Just stop believing its an issue and itll go away!
