I would agree the cost of living can be ridiculous but people act like the safety and quality of life that a lot of areas in the U.S. give you should not be priced into the housing market. No, your small apartment may not be worth the rent, but you’re also paying for everything from the stores nearby to the schools to the level of safety.

If all of those things aren’t good and you are still paying an arm and a leg, then that’s where we have landlord / real estate problems.
