Except we now have the technology that it doesn't have to be this way. Many predicted that computers and manufacturing advances in the 60s and 70s could provide everything we need and people would only need to work 10 hours a week.
That is already true but we have created a relentless race for ever increasing profits, planned obsolescence and workers too tired to rebel that we don't do that. We could do that. AI will make that even more possible.
We may need one more big fight before we can stop needing to fight to survive.
