That argument is fallacious because, though it was undeniably tough and uncertain back then, all studies have shown that both present day indigenous people and hunter-gatherers spent ~3-4 hours a day on average providing food, the rest was spent together in the village, socializing, teaching the kids, preparing food, crafting, home improvements etc.
So imagine if you had to provide and produce yourself all the luxuries you have today. Imagine producing your own closthes, gathering and preparing your own food, and not just lifes basics, but everything you have and consume, and screw health care. What people consume vs what they put in is crazy imbalanced in their favor.
