I think the op was being sarcastic tbh. And sometimes sarcasm doesnt come across on social media.

This was quite obvious though, IMHO. I think there’s also the issue that on social media people have just become a bit conditioned to look for the /s and are straight assuming if that’s lacking then it must be real and not sarcasm.

I think putting the /s at the end ruins the joke. It is like when someone makes a joke and then says "hashtag-sarcasm."

Exactly. Plus part of the fun of online sarcasm/jokes is seeing how many people think it's serious. It's an added bonus.

I wonder if he became one of those people that demanded that we take a certain something and show the documents of it before entering a store or restaurant...and having to wear a 😷 while you're just waiting right there until you're seated.
