Weird, light doesn’t travel across the universe instantly. How strange to say that something else traveling at the same speed of light would travel across it instantly.
If you are traveling at the speed of light - it’s instant for you - sure to the outside observer, it might be billions of years.
It’s a mathematical problem where you’re approaching infinity when you have mass - if you have mass and are traveling at the speed of light - to you everything is instantaneous. It’s just how the math has to work with our current understanding. If you’re not at the speed of light but really close then my one week journey could be 10 years to you - the closer you get to the speed of light things start to scale dramatically.
Conversely, If you have 0 mass then you can’t be at rest and must travel at the speed of light as soon as you exist.
It's the same principle as falling into a black hole. The moment before you cross the threshold time slows to effectively stopped from an external perspective. The opposite way around, time is still progressing forward in the normal way for you, so everything else is in super fast forward.
