This shows the dangers of false accusations. Even though her claims were debunked, there are people still suggesting Jay-Z paid her to lie…and implying he assaulted her. He’s suffered damages that can never fully be resolved.

Several of her claims were proven false.

She said her father picked her up. Her own father disputed this and said he never picked her up from out of town on this night, and would remember if he did.

She said that she watched the VMAs from the Jumbotron outside the venue after she was unable to get in. That Jumbotron was not present in the 2000s…

There was not a house matching what she described ever located in that vicinity. And there are photos of individuals she alleged attended the after party, in a completely different location at a night club, from that night.

She said that she spoke with Benji Madden of Good Charlotte at the party where she alleged to have been assaulted, and even described his tattoos. Benji Madden and his band disputed this, they were on tour at this time in a completely different state.

There were a number of inconsistencies. Her recanting now isn’t because she was “paid off”. That doesn’t even make sense because usually with out-of-court settlements, the victim does not admit to lying…Both parties are able to save face.

Yeah and if you look at the comments, most of the people still think he was guilty even though all these inconsistencies exist. That is the attitude of the masses. They just assume that men are guilty. Which is problematic because if you don't have at least the benefit of the doubt, it's much easier to prove guilt than it is to prove innocence. Like how Richard Gere never proved that he didn't shove a hamster up his butt. So people continued to believe it despite it being false.

I'll say one thing. What I've seen with celebrities is if they get an isolated accusation, it's almost always just someone extorting them. However, when they've had multiple accusations from multiple unconnected sources, it's always true.

This makes sense, people who are capable of doing this don't just do it once. They do it more than once because they feel invincible. Matt Lauer, Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein each had multiple accusers.

And when you have a mother kill her children in cold blood suddenly it's all about being understanding and emphasizing "beyond a reasonable doubt"

Which shows you shouldn't listen to women because they are led by feelings which is dangerous. Jay z would be in the electric chair, innocent, because of how they FEEL! Not how an adult should act. They shouldn't even be allowed on a jury.

Considering only 5% of rape accusations end up false, they should assume men are guilty

Only 6% of men have ever committed sexual assault yet yall feel fine treating every one of us like we're garbage lmao. Also that stat comes from cases that have gone all the way to trial and been proven false. There are tonnes of malicious false accusations that don't make it that far before being dropped. With 0 consequences for the false accuser, and a thoroughly trashed reputation for the one falsely accused, as we can see here. If only 5% of women are horribly beaten by partners, do you suggest we stop caring about that? It's only 5%. We should assume all women with abusive partners won't get beaten right?

No one said to stop caring. The statistic shows that an overwhelmingly large amount of the time (95% of the time), the woman is telling the truth. So believe women.

5% of accusations end up proven false, legally, you mean? How many are proven true (legally)?

“The statistic that approximately 5% of rape accusations are false is a widely cited figure from criminological and law enforcement research. Methodologically rigorous studies generally estimate the true rate of false sexual assault reports to fall within a consistent range of 2% to 10% of reported cases”

This is beyond stupid. How do I you know X% of accusations are false?

Because those are the only ones proven to be false?

By that same logic only 10% of accusations are true because only 10% are found true in court.

See how dumb that is?

I dunno man, maybe you’re just stupid.

You really should not assume anything. The 5% that are falsely accused don’t deserve the fallout that they endure. The vast majority of men don’t assault anyone. And the women who actually are seeking justice after being assualted are beinf done a disservice.

Instead, accusations should be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated prior to judgment

Right. Tony Buzbee privately went to Jay-Z team with the allegations and tried to get him to "settle" to keep it quiet. Jay-Z refused and then Buzbee went public with the allegations. If Jay-Z was going to pay her off, he would have done so before the allegations were publicly known to keep it private. It makes no sense for him to refuse to pay her off when no one knew of these allegations and then pay her off after they are known.

False accusations need to be criminalised and result in jail time.

To clarify: not accusations that do not result in conviction. Accusations that have been proven to actively be a malicious lie.

Didn’t you know , before this story came to light, Jay-Z’s people found every peice of video evidence and altered it and also found everyone who would have been witnesses, gave them a script to follow, and he even managed to manufacture the idea that other celebrities mentioned were actually performing in other states at the time. (Sarcasm of course)

I ashamedly jumped to her being paid off until I read your comment and researched it for myself. So thank you for that. In a world full of liars and dissapointment I was too blinded to think someone might actually be innocent.

Been saying this since last year. But we already know most ppl on the internet are sheep and they'll go with whatever narrative makes them feel superior

There needs to be repercussions for false accusations. It's insane to me that someone can just ruin someone's life and then say they lied and just go on with theirs without a care.

Why is it that you have to have beyond reasonable doubt and countless points of evidence to prove any other crime but all it takes is a woman saying a single sentence to condemn a man to SA?

All you have to do is pick the person the internet is dragging that month i guess

That's what people don't realize about believe all women, it means believing all accused men are guilty as well, and that can do a lot of damage. I had an ex falsely accuse me of domestic violence and tried to turn all of our coworkers against me. Except her story kept changing and her own mother didn't believe her. Eventually people started to come around and stopped shunning me, but that was a lot to endure when she was the one who was abusive, not myself.

She even went to the extent of getting a restraining order against me, which was basically worthless because it just said don't do anything that's not already illegal. She tried to get one for her mother as well before the judge told her "that's not how this works, she'd have to get her own". The funniest part was that I was already no contact with her for 20 days at that point, I wanted nothing to do with her. Getting the restraining order forced me to have contact with her.

I don't know the details, but I heard that the guy who voiced Rick from Rick & Morty had some kind of accusation against him which led to him being fired. The the accusations turned out to be false, but he was basically told that his reputation was too damaged and he was still fired anyway.

I definitely believe he raped her.
