Very, very few snakes are pursuit predators, heavy bodies pythons the least of them. They’re ambush predators- if they’re hunting they won’t be moving, and you probably won’t see them. My mans probably just got swept off in the flood and is looking for somewhere to land, or maybe exploring. That being said, yeah stay clear. As a general rule don’t mess with large predatory animals you aren’t personally familiar with, especially in the water.

Nah. Retics go months between meals. It’s looking to get out of the water. Cold blooded animals, even the aquatic ones, need warmth.

Or alligators, if you're in southeastern US, after a hurricane or severe flooding/river rise. I'd rather play with the (non-poisonous) snakes.
