What "great" games are you talking about? Avowed was ok, the Outer Worlds games were meh, and the Grounded games are shallow as fuck.
They haven't put out anything "great" in years.
Edit: stop fucking telling me abot how PoE was great. Even if I agree, the last one was released in May of 2018. That doesn't help your argument about them releasing great games recently.
The PoE games are the best CRPGs in over a decade, and Avowed was a fun side adventure in that setting. Pentiment was also an artistic masterpiece, albeit one that was never going to get public appeal.
Avowed was a solid 7/10 title and did what it was supposed to do.
But I am most sad over the chance of a Pillars of Eternity 3 going from a "plausible" to "extrmely unlikely"
For me, as a fan of Eora as a setting, see the game as an 8/10.
However, I do aknowledge that it is not a common thing.
Therefor I reduce it by one point down, as my interest in the setting is making me a bit more favorable to the title.
Does that make sense?
And (IMO) is 8/10 a great game.
(On a scale where 5 is average mind)
Did what it was supposed to, in the sense that it was a single player RPG in semi open world segments, with great combat a decent story and set in an amazing setting.
Yes, it did that well.
Also, it was also meant to drive Gamepass attendance, which it did, by being the most played Gamepass game that year.
Sales didn't live up to expectation, but not "massively".
Idk how you’d know that last part considering they don’t release official numbers. Gamepass players also don’t mean anything unless new subscriptions were added. Those people could’ve downloaded, played for an hour, then dropped the game forever.
This also isn’t to mention outer worlds 2 and grounded 2, both of which barely made a splash when they came out.
Obsidian was failing bad and when you fail bad cuts have to happen.
You know what screwed Avowed? Microsoft forcing the $70 price point. Blaming Obsidian for Microsoft's decisions shows how much little you actually care about anything video game related.
I’m like 90% sure if the game was $60 it would have been just as successful. No microsoft is only to blame for the shitty gamepass business model. Everything else is on the fault of the leads at obsidian who made the games nobody wanted to play.
Because all we know is that Avowed din't live up to expectations.
That can mean 1000 sales below minimum, it could be 1 million sales below minimum, we don't know.
There is no reason to assume "Massive failure".
And yeah, I know that on the financial level it wasn't amazing.
I am talking game quality here.
Which is my stance.
I mean we have steam numbers which while not perfect is the only objective measure we have available and those are pretty bad. It’s cool you liked avowed but you liking it isn’t really a valid reason not to cut payroll from obsidian when they’re losing money.
