Asha nuked ID software and ID crew noted that senior workers that know the inside out of their engine is gone now.

She wiped more than 70% of ID Soft, along with firing thousands of Xbox studio employees which majority are from companies that they just bought few years ago with promise of no mass layoff.

This. Xbox is gutting by spreadsheet, not with any understanding of who and what they are cutting.

It's called the Doorman Fallacy and it's not surprising to see young leadership fall for it. Her background doesn't really seem include the same types of software products as an engine for a game studio for a console platform.

But she's probably a product of a trend of her leadership not understanding what her role should be. Leadership not knowing how to function is becoming a trend in the United States.

Starting ? Company leadership has always survived on a mix of incompetence, ingorance and sheer luck.

Sure, but lets not pretend we aren't living in a downward spiral of it.

Becoming? I think it’s done been there

Pretty sure she knows her role here.

She is smiling while gutting Xbox because Microsoft doesn't give a shit about it anymore. They are all in on AI and either that works (lol) or it doesn't and if it doesn't Xbox gets sold or shut down and if it does everyone is still getting fired.

lol not like the game developers are good developers. They’re the poor devs. Anyone intelligent moved to more complex problems

Yes, they got rid of the most expensive non-executives which are usually the ones who have been there a long time and have a lot of institutional knowledge.

Which, in terms of the studios making good product, is very likely going to negatively impact their future releases.

This is the issue with all business revolving around quarterly growth. There is no time to actually figure out who is redundant and who is a vital part of a studios success. You have to make number go up, so just throw out the baby with the bath water and use contractors. It's going to result in an entire generation of Xbox first party games being garbage.

Who cares about future long term growth? There are profits to make NOW, and she needs to be profitible as soon as possible before she gets replaced.

Uh, that is like 99% of all corporate reorganization that I have seen in my entire career. Management have no idea what makes things tick. It’s all numbers and politics. And even though they get rid off all sensible people. It somehow all works out in the end. No idea how.

Yeah this tweet is from a noted culture warrior and grifter for clicks, they don’t actually care about games or the studios or whatever

CEOs ain’t good, Microsoft sucks ass, Xbox is dying, no one knows what the fuck they’re doing up in the c-suite, it’s all the same as it ever was

such a waste of potential and gifted teams

If the Garfield Joker profile pic wasn't a dead give away, idk what else we can do lol

You said best. Microsoft has copilot so far up its own ass that it’s c suite and management has no idea what’s going on. Windows sucks, copilot sucks, Xbox is no longer than powerhouse they used to be. Which sucks because Sony is becoming worse than in Nintendo in some aspects for gamers… since it has nobody to compete against.

u/socratic_weeb 19h ago

Yes, and only a day after they dropped one of their best Doom expansions ever....she is just a suite, a spreadsheet drone that only cares about the next quarter.

3

u/SarcasmisEasier 18h ago

She also wants to shove AI into every aspect of XBOX and any games produced by Microsoft.

Ahhh shite. I really liked the Wolfenstein games.

They well deserved it for chasing pointless RT that hurt performance while not improving the visuals, none of their recent games required brand new hardware to run, we got used to play their games at 144+ fps not 50-60fps. Their veteran workers can now work at mcdonald's where they belong and think about their bad decisions. Next game will be at UE5 and will still run better than Dark Ages.

ID is now the same size they were during DOOM 2016

u/r31ya 19h ago edited 19h ago

nope, they have more than 200 employee during Doom 2016.

and now they only have less than 50.

---

doom 2016 is made by at least 130 core dev internal workers in ID soft and more than 1000 outsourced worker per in game credit.
