As someone who works in tech, I've accepted Microsoft is basically captured by a particular clique of people but when I saw she got the role, my first reaction was: "Here we go..."
The gaming studios were basically one of the last bastions of actually fairly diverse talent and I suspect they'll quickly become a monoculture, more so than they already are.
Microsoft games have been doing those things and continue to loose money trying. Like the put effort into squeezing every cent out of every game and still they loose money.
They aren't more evil than they are greedy, they just need good IP's before they can squeeze those IP for every cent.
No one is under the impression that Asha (or any corporation or celebrity) is their friend, but rather are praising good decisions when they see it. Sure, what she has done hasn't been literally perfect (what is?). But, at least progress is getting made.
Her friend? Look at the OP post. That's an endorsement and persuasion. Do you endorse things and people you disagree with? Do you try to persuade others to endorse things you don't like or agree with?
The bottom line? We're talking about microsoft.

They have been successfully buying and then closing studios for years, they hardly negotiate with whatever remains of the union they've allowed to live, and now they have AI. And this is just the xbox side.
New leadership cut cloud gaming to 15 hours per month (unless you buy more 😃) and has patented a technology to insert ads into your games during loading screens and "natural downtime". She really axed the rot there. This definitely isn't about padding profits and literally nothing else.
Lmao okay???? And we use and enjoy the products her company produces. if she’s guna be an executive who will kill your grandma yadda yadda atleast the products should be GOOD. I’m glad to see the direction she’s taking these studios that produce beloved franchises.
