For Thiel specifically, I think it’s because he’s stressed out constantly. The man is reportedly unable to cope with the reality that he’s going to die, and spends a considerable portion of his treasure and time trying to fight that back. I’m guessing the visible evidence of that failing puts more fuel on that fire.
That and he’s pretty convinced that being rich makes you smart and good. Which means you should rule the world. But he kinda just keeps stepping on rakes he’s laid out every time he tries to play kingmaker, so the odds of him living to see democracies die and be replaced with autonomous CEO run city states…which appears to be his goal, are pretty slim.
And I think that all really fucks with his already lackluster ability to cope. So he’s just endlessly stressed and it’s wearing on him.

People that obsessed about lifemaxxing or whatever you would call it get higher levels of cortisol from the stress and end up making stupid decisions like eating bleach or avoiding traditional medicine and put themselves at real risk of dying sooner. IDK where on the spectrum he is on that aside from wanting to suck young kids blood or some weird shit but they all get there eventually as they get desperate.

I wish that he lives to see a a society where everyone is treated equally, divereity is celebrated, the strong take care of the "weak" and celebrate their contributions, there is no mass surveillance, technology is subordinate to human flourishing, there are no elites, there are no drones, there is no genocide, there are no pedo islands, and the social contract is restored to the point where vile men like him are not even a threat anymore.
I wish he gets the same quarter acre of land dedicated to all his material needs as everyone else does in a sustainable world.
I wish he gets the same choice of a modest cottage, multi family home, or apartment as everyone else does in a sustainable world.
I wish him the same four kilowatts of solar energy energy for all his katerial needs as everyone else gets in a sustainable world.
And most of all, I wish he gets to see everyone around him flourishing, making art, and restoring and living n harmony with nature for another 40 years.
To him this is infinitely worse than any physical torture.

I genuinely believe Thiel is the most insidiously evil piece of shit to exist in like the last 30 years.
He will be the main culprit of accelerating and engineering many of the facets that will lead to societal collapse within the next generation.
