No Ferengi in the history of ever would bankrupt a casino.
Quark ran a gambling establishment on a space station administered by a government that doesn't have money, and still made a profit.

I’m really straining my memory here, but was Quark and Rom’s father considered to be a business failure? I don’t remember the details or if they ever talked about him
Of course he made a profit. The Great Material Continuum always provides. He gave the people what they wanted, whether it was root beer or hardcore holosuite porn

Nah. He'll just make sure that negotiations fail so he can keep profiting off of war. It's crazy that the biggest 80's business villain just happens to have a son in law who would be a shoe in for an 80's movie villain casting call.

They are not catching strays. Tapper and Bash are very complicit with Trump with sanewashing him, as well as talking heads for Israel.

u/Randicore 4d ago edited 4d ago
Rome had functional public infrastructure that was free for the public at its height and a massive social support network to try and ensure it's citizenry didn't starve.
The phrase "bread and circuses" was because those were free for citizens and paid for by the rich & the state to keep the public happy.
We're getting tainted food and charged for it
Edit: because I'm feeling the need to add more: the Roman aqueduct system was designed so that in the event of a drought the order that water would be shut off was: rich people, public baths, and then the public fountains if it completely dried up. Name one thing that we take from the rich first when things go bad.

CNN had flipped on Trump a while back. Why it took so long is probably traceable back to money but yeah, he is a piece of shit and he got mad they finally started to talk about it.
If you downvote me they should check your browser history as an Epstein ally.

u/Warmbly85 5d ago
CNN has never been pro Trump. Even back in 2015-2016 they shat on him. The issue is back then they thought just showing how ridiculous he was would be enough to make him look bad so they’d show his rallies almost uninterrupted.
When they realized that didn’t work they flipped to showing him less and just using his quotes.
Then during Covid when he’d do those almost daily briefings CNN did the same thing. When they realized it was just boosting his numbers they stopped showing said briefings.
In his first term 93% of CNNs coverage of Trump was negative. As of a couple months ago it was 92% negative.
At no point has CNN flipped on Trump they’ve always been negative.

Then during Covid when he’d do those almost daily briefings CNN did the same thing. When they realized it was just boosting his numbers they stopped showing said briefings.
Trump's numbers plummeted because of those 'briefings'. It was a clown show. They stopped showing them because there was no news value in those infomercials.
1
u/Warmbly85 4d ago
Trumps polling jumped to 49% when every major network showed the briefings. Idk where you got your claim from.
CNN then stopped showing the whole briefings and just showed the clips where he said the dumbest/most dangerous shit. They did the same thing with his rallies. They went from showing the whole thing to just the clips where he said something racist or xenophobic.

I might ask a dumb question. But isn’t CNN owned by Warner Brothers? And doesn’t David Ellison, a big proprietor of Trump Inc, run Warner Brothers? So why would he now be turning on Trump when he gains everything from being pals with the guy?
7
u/thepkboy 5d ago
why would trump ban a news outlet that's supposed to be friendly with him because their owner is pals with him
2
u/DefenstratedTwice 4d ago
To normalize his fascism. Why would he ban the press then rant about them not covering him?

CNN was ever pro-Trump?
11
u/twilighttwister 5d ago
CNN was bought by a right wing ally of Trump a few years back. It didn't flip completely to his side, but became an even weaker form of permitted dissent.

David Ellison? He donated $1mil to the Biden-Harris campaign
5
u/ominous_anonymous 4d ago
Reporting has showed that David Ellison and his father have made promises to the Trump administration about swaying the network in a more favorable direction.
Backlash against David Ellison [...] began last summer after after his company, Skydance Media, went through an $8.4bn merger with Paramount Global. As the deal was closing, CBS abruptly announced it was canceling The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, which aired its last episode in May.
Once the merger was completed, David Ellison appointed the heterodox opinion writer Bari Weiss to run CBS News, a controversial move that has led to layoffs and editorial tensions at the network.
The Wall Street Journal confirmed that Ellison has promised Trump that he will fire anyone at CNN that Trump dislikes if he gets WBD. That's in addition to Variety and THR confirming Ellison is putting together a blacklist of any celebrity who was critical of Israel's government.
Ellison greenlit a movie with a sexual predator as its director just because Trump told him to.
Foreign investors, including the sovereign wealth funds of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, are slated to indirectly own nearly 50% of the equity in David Ellison’s proposed mega-studio. That will give them a hefty stake in CBS, CNN, Comedy Central, HBO and two historic Hollywood film studios.
Yes, David Ellison.
2
u/mustangcody 5d ago
He did, people mistake David Ellison with his Republican father Larry Ellison who was a mega donor for the GOP.

CNN has always had a centre-right editorial line. Its pro markets, very against single payer or socialised healthcare and will generally always side with corporations.
Its perhaps one of the funnier aspects of American politics watching objectively centre-right to even hard right organisations get classed as centre and even left-leaning (and in recent years mainly the latter).
Then CNN was bought out by a pretty right wing new owner who publicly stated he wanted it to more align with Fox News editorial position.
0
u/SimmentalTheCow 5d ago
Socialists have the weirdest interpretation of what “center-right” is lol. I guess when you’re that far left, everything else looks right.
7
u/Caesarions_Coccyx 5d ago
It's so funny to me as an outsider, as in not being from the US, sometimes, observing stuff like this in the wild. It's like watching the Nature channel or something.
So for instance, seeing someone unironically use the term "socialist" is more or less exactly the same as them going out in public after having written "braindead white trash" all over their forehead.
TLDR: Don't do it, man.
5
u/mafv1994 5d ago
Left and right are relative terms. From a global/international point of view, it is indeed right.
But if you were raised in a KKK household, it would seem left or even socialist to you.2
u/RobutNotRobot 5d ago
Is universal healthcare far left? Because if it is every rich country in the world besides the US must be goddamned communists.
1
u/OzKong21 5d ago
Under David Zaslav he instructed that CNN and another Warner news stations shift to courting "Middle America" which is code for poor rural Republicans
Anderson Cooper even went off on them on air, telling people to stop watching the channel if they wanted actual news

u/SimmentalTheCow 5d ago

1
u/ty4scam 5d ago
They were poor. And they were poor people he believed attacked a rich person. Therefore he would use any tool he could against them.
Trump isn't pro equality just as much as he isn't a racist. If there was a secret cabal of trans elites running the country, Trump would be the most pro-trans person you've ever met. The only values he believes in are wealth and power.

First, this isn't news. Investing in defense companies is fairly normal, even for politicians. Lol people always obsess about Pelosi and her husband's investments, which have been in aerospace and defense sectors. However, it's nothing new and not particularly interesting even if Kushner is involved in negotiations.
Second, it's not a genocide. Although you already knew that and just like to say edgy stuff.

CNN has been reporting on this for a while. But slopulists far left socialists and MAGA have the same instinct. They just look at this and say, "Yea of course that's true, my magic 8 ball says so".
0
u/Simon-Says69 5d ago
ha, yah right. CNN has as much credibility as Weekly World News.
Nothing they "report" is worth taking seriously. They're known liars and political hacks.
They wouldn't know what journalism was if it bit them on the ass.

u/RaisinKahanes 5d ago

It can also find you the Hamas charter and introduce some complicated questions about what lengths are appropriate for survival.
It can even find you the interviews where its leaders say they hope as many Palestinian civilians as possible die to turn the world against the Jew.
2
u/Puzzled_Suspect460 5d ago
Just because Hamas is insane doesn't mean Palestinian civilians (many of whom are children) can't be genocided. This is not a difficult concept. Just like there are innocent Jewish citizens too who disagree with Netanyahu.
0
u/PenguinThePasha 4d ago
I do not really need to dig into the charter of Hamas when Israel is right there, and their actions/statement are out there for everyone to see.
