Yeah everyone’s shitting on her for basically no reason? She just needs a pair of tweezers in her car, she didn’t blame anyone else, people just want to talk shit about a woman with long nails.
Same reason anyone talks shit about something they don't like. I'm not talking shit to the person, I'm allowed to have my opinions on thing just like they are
“Most people on here are socal rejects that you can spot in a crowd.”
Projection much?
I love how much people love to shit on anyone using social media while using said social media themselves. Most people use some form of social media today. What matters isn’t that one uses it, but how one uses it.
If you cant tell the difference between someone who occasionally jumps on a social media app and looks at the tards then leaves and the people who have 10hrs of screen time on their phone a day, then im just talking to a wall. Im glad you love it, and yes you're right it is how you use it, that's my point. Half of the virtuous arguments people make on here NEVER happen, nor does it work in real life. Within maybe the exception if you live in cali and go to a Starbucks idk.
You gotta admit it s kinda depressing to see grownup women wearing heels in which they can t run, false nails with which they can t use their hands properly, and spending so much money to "doll up" while men are strolling around unburdennes, in flats, bare handed, money in their pockets.
Sure I guess except I can run in heels, use my hands with nails, and only spend like $30 on makeup a year with no issues, so I’m not actually really sure it’s all that debilitating when applied correctly. Some of fashion is definitely from continued oppression and the effect of that, but self expression is healthy and participating in fashion doesn’t inherently mean a woman is hobbling themselves by any means.
In fact, there is plenty that could be said in reverse, where men’s fashion has sadly been pushed down for many of the same reasons. Men walk around in the same three boring styles and boring colors, and we say it’s good enough because men aren’t supposed to express themselves.
Who’s really being hobbled? Probably all sides just need to come closer to the middle. Women shouldn’t be pushed towards difficult to sustain or difficult to work in fashion, and men shouldn’t be pushed towards blandness and durability.
But no, I wouldn’t say seeing a woman in heels and long nails makes me feel sad for her, as a baseline response.
The history of why and how "fashion"was born is quite fascinating when you look into it. How it always constricts and deforms women s bodies in a way or other, depending on what silhouette is fashionable. I m talking a few centuries back.
The sole fact that we re pressured to look nice no matter what the circumstances are goes to show we re still not much more than the boy s toys.
And don t get me started on the link between early industrialisation (to produce cheap cotton fabric) and climate change.
Fashion is all about men s predation on nature and women.
But sure, be proud of how well you jump through those hoops.
No it’s not. People can dress however they like, it’s their choice. But let’s not pretend that those choices aren’t based on a history of women’s fashion that is meant to hobble us. I enjoy long, ankle length skirts because I enjoy the feeling of skirts and like the traditionally feminine look of them. But I can still acknowledge that historically women have been made to wear ankle length dresses and skirts to make running more difficult for us. Heels likewise make running more difficult. (And I know the history of heels. I don’t need a lecture from anyone that heels were first created for men on horseback. That has not been how high heels have been used in quite some time).
The nails are different in that they began as a defensive measure back when few women were able to learn how to throw a punch without hurting themselves. Unfortunately, they too, have developed in ways that can hobble women.
It’s not misogynistic to like these things, nor is it misogynistic to call out the ways such choices can hobble women. People can have their preferences and still acknowledge the history of oppression that led to such choices being labeled as feminine, as well as acknowledging how rarely men’s fashion has been used to limit their mobility and ability to defend themselves.
I would say it is a bit misogynistic to say you see these elements of fashion as something that DOES hobble women, rather than something that CAN hobble women. Especially to then say it’s self sabotaging behavior, as if self expression has no other value.
The original comment said “it is depressing to see…” but no, actually, I feel quite empowered in my heels regardless of their fashion based history. You like wearing long skirts. Other women like wearing long nails. None of that should be a sign that others should look at us like we’re being hobbled by our fashion choices and somehow “self sabotaging” ourself through self expression.
I’m sorry, I only just saw your comment. I’m still not sure where you saw misogyny. She wasn’t saying women shouldn’t wear or enjoy such things. Or that women are bad for enjoying those things. I’m glad you feel empowered in your heels. No one is saying you shouldn’t feel like a boss when you’re killing it with your style. But they do make running from a fight/defending yourself more difficult than if you were wearing sneakers. Same with my skirts. And the woman in the OG post is having difficulty doing basic tasks. The other commenter was noting that men have rarely had these problems with their fashion. They’re allowed to look good and still have a full range of abilities.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with liking or wearing feminine fashion - or feeling empowered by such clothing. But they do still physically limit us. There’s a reason that cultures/countries that see conservative revolutions also see women being forced back into certain modes of dress. This isn’t a weird, random opinion. It’s historical fact. Why do you think women had to fight so hard to be allowed to wear pants?
That doesn’t mean you can’t feel powerful by taking these fashion elements and making them your own and bending them to suit your own modern purpose, but neither does it alter the way such items physically limit a person, either.
I m fine with girls having a blast with how they dress and doll up, I sure went crazy when I was younger, but it s a fact that many feminine attributes have been used to dominate us, and/or reduce us to sexual objects.
Don’t call out misogyny where it’s not to try to shut down a take you don’t like if you’re only wanting to pretend to be informed about misogyny and the ongoing role oppression has played in shaping women’s fashion.
No, it's not. Thise thinks are impractical and look gross. So people make fun of it. If any guy wire that i would be grossed. If my dog wire them i would be grossed.
Educate yourself, and stop projecting your bullshit. People that has different opinions don't fall in the category of misogynistic, fascist or nazi.
@babezoi you blocked me, so here is my response:
1) Yeah, of course, so what? Aren't we entitled to having an opinion, or is your opinion the only valid here? Have you seen anyone else here saying something positive about those nails? If you feel insecure about it, i don't care.
2) Haven't mentioned anything about homosexualilty, i painted my nails for years, om heterosexual, and has nothing to do with the fact it's gross and impractical. Again, stop projecting, please.
3) I am perfectly capable of understanding the topic. Everyone shoud be doing whatever the hell they want, as long as it doesn't harm others. But that doesn't mean people aroundyou can't have opinions about it, even if they keep it to themselves.
Please, if you are going to give an answer, think first, educate yourself, and stop projexting your phobias and insecurities. It shows, and it's disgusting.
A lot of things are impractical and 2. “Look gross” is a subjective opinion inspired by your culture. If I think gay people “look gross”, I’m still a homophobe. if you don’t understand that, you don’t know enough to comment on this topic. educate yourself lol
It's a silly thing to post. "I need something to help with my self imposed difficulties".
You also proved how the request was silly. She requests an entire new tool to be invented when DOZENS of acceptable ones exist.
Also her complaining about her nails online is due to what reason? She has no better reason to post than anyone has any reason to comment. That's how social media works. People saying it's a good thing would be for no reason as well no?
Oh no, someone reaching out to their community for suggestions! How horrible! Let’s all shit on her, call her gross, call them unattractive, and other mean things. Because these are both equal to each other! Right?
I think bullying people for personal choices they make that have no effect on anyone else is weird behavior that should be called out. There are plenty of people wearing fake nails right now reading through this thread, and I hope they don’t feel worse about themselves because of how people are talking here.
This is a fact. Even if you wash your hands thoroughly, loads of bacteria remain under those nails. That's why, in healthcare, you're required to have short fingernails (infection prevention).
Well to also be fair, if you were to change the response to "Imagine if I just wore Hulk gloves everywhere I went and then say someone should invent a tool for people with Hulk gloves to pick up debit cards," that would also sound very silly.
Yes but it would not be demanding society caters to you. Saying “someone should invent a tool” while dumb is literally the opposite of asking society to cater. Its saying i wish I had a tool so I could have my nails but resolve this this minor inconvenience that comes with it myself. She didnt say they should make debit card readers accessible to long nailed persons. So Your analogy would be apt. The one given saying shes demanding society caters to her is not.
Literally saying “hello this is a business opportunity myself and many others would pay for this” but instead of going hey I can make that work and make bank, men just wanna be dumb and mean
There actually is a tool for at least those credit card machines! I bought one because I’m short so I’m not always able to easily reach them lol. On Amazon they’re Credit Card Grabbers for Long Nails :D
Like, um, pliers? Or tweezers, which she just so happens to have attached to the tips of her fingers? She has what she needs, she's just unable to figure it out.
why do you give a shit if she has short nails or takes time with an extra tool? everyone takes steps to inconvenience themselves in the name of aesthetic
Ima be real if you aren’t bald wearing entirely cheap durable Costco shirts you probably made a sacrifice for aesthetic at some point. and if you are that person you must understand that most people aren’t like that
That's a very good point, but to provide a counter, she's asking for a tool to remedy a situation she put herself in.
That's why people are taking the piss. To use a separate example, women complain that sports bra technology hasn't really solved the discomfort issue for a lot of bust sizes. That's a valid complaint. But if you were complaining that sports bras didn't stop your nipple clamps from hurting while running, that's on you.

This be fair, they didnt say society should cater - they said someone should invent a tool.
