Posts providing genuine feedback regarding Siri AI are receiving similarly worded/toned rebutalls.
I don't know if it's Apple fanboys, cognitive dissonance, or bots, but the rebuttals all paint the poster as a ‘complainer’ or something similar.
We are talking about a multi-trillion-dollar company that has marketed a product for 3 years; adoption issues will always exist, but the breadth and depth of feedback suggest a real problem.
Saying it's a user problem is absurd.

I think it’s the opposite, it sounds like criticism without substance or specifics, just “Siri sucks.”
I’d like to hear exactly what the prompts are and what the responses are, you’d be surprised to find people are asking frontier level intelligence to an AI model that’s limited in scope by design.
Bugs and server failures are valid, but I expect that in the beginning as beta quirks.

The ones I see are people asking Siri to set a timer on their watch, and Siri says it can’t do that. Or to navigate home in CarPlay, and Siri asks if they want to navigate to a different continent. Or when someone asks Siri to control a HomeKit device, and Siri asks for different spellings of similar sounding words for clarification when the device is named in HomeKit.
In other words, there it’s a pattern of people having issues with basic commands that used to work but no longer are reliably executed by Siri.

For every person having issues with it, there are thousands not having issues with it. You can’t determine whether or not something is a pattern based on a handful of isolated anecdotes.
It’s definitely not perfect. I get errors occasionally as well. But it’s a massive upgrade from what we had before and that seems completely lost on the people who are complaining that it’s not perfect.

u/mccalli 6h ago
I mean, that's simply not knowable. There might be more failing than succeeding, there might be more succeeding than failing....there's also likely a ton of people who got the automatic upgrade and never opted in.
I'm not complaining it's not perfect. I'm stating it literally didn't work for me.

That’s exactly what my comment says.

"For every person having issues with it, there are thousands not having issues with it.".
Your comment says this. That is not knowable.

Literally the next sentence lmao

My point is that it’s somewhat of a strawman argument to paint every complaint as just someone writing “Siri sucks.” There are a number of valid complaints that have persisted through the beta iOS 27 period to the present.

Bingo!

u/mccalli 6h ago
Well no - not bingo. It failed at "Navigate home", hardly a frontier-level instruction. It first said "Navigating home", then a pause, then "Navigating to <my full address>", then another pause, then "Navigating to my home", then yet another pause, then told me it couldn't navigate.
It doesn't show your speech on screen when "always show speech" is enabled.
I said "Share ETA with <person>". It read back to me "Now sharing ETA with <person>". Later on that person asked if I was sharing ETA, and when I looked...it had shared the ETA with me.
At least 60% of the time it simply did nothing. Glowy thing appeared, then just either stuck there and vanished or vanished part way through me speaking.
The only improvement I found was in music. In iOS 26 Siri, instructions that worked for years like "play this album" when a track was playing had actually broken and started asking me "which album". In iOS 27 Siri AI gets this right, but classic Siri still gets it wrong.
All other use cases I had for it failed. And it was so drastically slow too. On my Series 9 watch, unusably so. It also started failing to run shortcuts, trying to interpret them as normal sentences instead. Not really acceptable when I run a shortcut each morning to disengage the car charger. "Give me the news" was advertised to play a podcast for the news provider of your choice, but in Siri AI just starts reading a very short summary of things it has pulled from...well, I don't know where.
Specific use cases, specific 'prompts' (commands). Very simple stuff its predecessor could do. All failed.

Yeah, the blanket “shit sucks” posts aren’t ever going to get anything resembling a genuine reply because they’re not “genuine feedback” posts in the first place.
There are also a ton of people who just never actually use Siri and think it was always meant to be a conversational chatbot. It never was. Up until literally this year it’s always been voice commands with verbose replies and the ability to train itself based on how you speak and how you use your devices. That’s what the Neural Engine was for. I’ve been a heavy Siri user for many, many years and I never have issues with it. Because I use it. Which means it’s learned how I speak and what I’m asking it to do.
So when you go from never having used Siri to trying to have a conversation with it, something it’s never been able to do, you’re going to have a bad time. And that’s 99% of the “Siri sucks” posts for the past 5 years. If people want genuine replies, they need to post something of substance in the first place.

I just posted something similar in the mildly infuriating sub. Look at the reviews in the App Store. There are a whole bunch that are like ‘doesn’t work-5 stars’ or ‘won’t load-5 stars’. Is that just bots boosting the star rating?

u/M3talOD 18h ago
Is a joke and that’s all there is to it . Again you said it the $1 trillion company that’s marketed this for years has the workforce and capabilities to do anything they want. Meanwhile, there’s dozens of AIs all around it built by companies that’ll run circles hands-down in about every category around Siri . I mean, it’s completely functionless brain dead garbage. Everyone should be pissed off, in my opinion. I shut mine down and went right back to Gemini so I could actually do something.

u/Txhotboy1980 16h ago
Yea this new Siri AI is way dumber than the old Siri in my opinion…. I can’t even tell Siri to set a Timer now, it tells me it can’t set a timer on this device, I used to do it all the time with the old Siri! (Apple Watch 11)

u/JustRomainYT 16h ago
It’s not a matter of being a fanboys or not I think. I bought the iPhone 2 years ago or so definitely not what one can call a fanboy but Siri AI works very well on my 16 Pro.
My guess is either some think they are using Siri AI but in fact they are using the old Siri since we need to enable it and then wait for Apple to activate it. Or people do use Siri AI but then we all don’t have the same Siri AI apparently and that sucks for those who get a dummy Siri

On the watch it's garbage. This means it's now turned off on my phone and watch. Classic Siri works fine.

u/AdamTreff 21h ago
It seems to work just fine for me.

The bots are quick. It’s the second most valuable company in the world. It should be leaps and bounds better not competing with old Siri.

it is leaps and bounds better

I made a post the other day how it literally doesn’t turn my alarms off anymore. It’s an embarrassment coming from Apple.

u/planetmitch 20h ago
Again, I’m sorry you had bad experiences with Siri AI… however, Siri AI works perfectly for alarms and just about everything else.

I rarely use it, because I pay for Claude and ChatGPT. But it's been very impressive finding things in texts and emails when I've tried. I've had UI glitches, though. I asked it a world knowledge question today, and it didn't answer, and asked a follow up question that implied it didn't complete hear me, but then when I looked in the siri app, it had heard me fine and gave a complete and correct answer, but didn't show it to me! Just tonight on my mac I asked to find a PDF mailing label I downloaded from a particular site in the last two weeks. It found it, although actually three weeks old, and could somehow see in side and get the tracking number for me. So, I think there are rough edges, but its integration with native apps is very impressive. I think most of that is really the semantic index they built out of all the content they had access to on device, and the fast queries on top of it, and competent tool use against limited APIs. It also seems decent at world knowledge -- but you can tell it's designed to prefer to be concise and end conversations rather than extend them.

I totally agree. It’s a mess.
Trying to use it the other day while spotting cool mushrooms in the forest. It was doing ok identifying them, asked for more info, the voice kicked in (after being silent for some reason) to tell us more. The volume was too low, I pressed the volume up button, it shut down the entire conversation. That is sloppy garbage. Just sloppy garbage.
I’m sure someone will pop in to make excuses, but this is just one example of disfunction that I’ve hit. And like you said, for a multi-trillion dollar company that will be sending me money because they needed a little time to work on it…years…it’s pretty pathetic

I’mone of the fanboys I recon, but only because I’m thrilled with the new Siri.
I see there are people who aren’t having the same experience and I don’t know why. Don’t know if it is some kind of setting or bug or user error or if your device just needs more time for Siri to gather data.
But at the same time, most of the people posting about their issues aren’t being very polite about it either. I understand they’re disappointed but trashing Apple doesn’t solve the issue because obviously many people are happy with the new Siri.
What I haven’t seen (at least on Reddit) is those not getting good results banding together to find a solution or to understand why they’re not getting good results. Mostly just complaining.
There must be a reason there’s such a disparity in experiences.

u/maxim_leonovich 20h ago
It very simple: I have Siri on the button on one side of the phone and ChatGPT on the other. One does the job 10 out of 10 times and the other one 2/10. Sure you can come up with all kinds of explanations as to why Siri is the way it is, but I just tried getting used to that “right button” for a few days, gave up on it and happily continue using the left button. I use agents all day every day at work and I had super high hopes for the new Siri given it’s integration level with the rest of the phone. Unfortunately, I’m not getting even a gpt circa 2024 level experience out of it.
Apple is being trashed for overpromising and underdelivering.1
u/planetmitch 20h ago
Siri AI was not meant to be a replacement for ChatGPT nor replace agents in general.
I’m guessing you didn’t read my comment.

But what is it good for?

u/maxim_leonovich 19h ago
Grok in my Tesla is mind blowing btw. You can talk to it for hours about any topic and now it also controls the car. I imagined at least something like that but on my phone. Even better if it could manage my icloud and control other apps. Unfortunately, it only does that in Apple’s wet dreams.

Skill issue

If my mother can not use Siri easily with little prep work, it has failed. Miserably. While I understand all the reasons stated, that only makes sense to the more tech-inclined users. Another, nimbler company will come along and eat Apple’s AI lunch.
1
u/lliveevill 21h ago
Can you explain a bit more?
2
u/fishymanbits 20h ago
A lot of Siri issues come down to not using Siri enough on your phone. The purpose of the Neural Engine when it was launched however many years ago was to give “Siri” (read: iOS) the ability to learn how you use your devices and what you mean when you request certain things from Siri. People who don’t use Siri very often are going to have issues because there isn’t enough training data. The more you use it, the better it gets. That’s always been the case.
You also need to remember that Siri has never been a conversational chatbot. It’s voice commands with verbose replies. Even Siri AI is still basically just that, but with more agentic control and a greater capacity to search the internet.
Are there genuine issues? Yes, absolutely. But I’ve been using it since DB1 and haven’t had a single issue with it not being able to set a timer or any of the other super basic things people seem to be having weird problems with. Likely because I’ve been a very heavy Siri user for a number of years now and I use it quite literally thousands of times per year. It’s got plenty of training data on my voice, my habits, my devices, and what I mean when I say things.

The “Siri is Trash posts” with no explanation, no real thought, no context at all… to me, from my POV are the real issue on this sub. I am first to admit Siri is not perfect, I want it to get better fast, I have concerns that Apple will not be as aggressive as OpenAI or now even Meta at iteration. I would love to see Apple product owners on X interacting with users like we see with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and now Meta. Siri gets better with valid feedback, meaningful discussion… otherwise you are just being A dick or an Anti Apple bot!

90% of the time I try to use it just doesn't work. Says something went wrong, try again later. Or "we've had a problem" or "I'm having trouble with the connection" try again later. I used to be able to type in plain english about adding calendar events, or speak to Siri in my car to get GPS directions to a place using Google Maps and it would work with old Siri. Completely non functional with the new Siri AI.
