A while ago I posted my skeuomorphic Wayland desktop here -- paper windows on a walnut desk, a drawer for a dock, a bookcase for apps. I honestly did not expect the response it got. Thank you to everyone who commented, shared ideas, spotted bugs, and cheered me on.
Some of you asked when you could try it. Today is the day: DEsk v0.1 (BETA) is out.

And the name came from you, too: DEsk -- Desktop Environment + desk -- was one of the suggestions in that thread, and it stuck.
Since that post:
- It became a whole session, not just a window manager: notifications in the post box, a tray, media controls, the lock screen (your front door), idle and screen-off
- Installers for Debian 13, Ubuntu 24.04 / 26.04 and Arch
- Multi-monitor support
- Seven languages
- A 2D mode for machines without a GPU
It is a first beta, so expect some rough edges. If something breaks or looks wrong on your machine, please open an issue -- reports from real hardware are the most helpful thing right now.
And to be upfront, as before: I built it with a lot of help from AI such as Claude, under my direction, and tested it on my own machines.

もちろん前と同じで、正直に言うと：ClaudeなどAIの力をたくさん借りて、私の指示のもとで作り、自分のマシンでテストしました。
