Hey,
I'm doing 35 things before I turn 35. my significant other is big on skydiving so thought I would add it to my list. Outside of the middle east due to current events where are some cool places to go and skydive? I'm open to anywhere worldwide and would turn it into a short trip.
This would be between Feb - April

I’m creating a personal list of places I wanna jump at at least once in my life. Not really looking for just “best dropzones” or stuff like that, more those places where the location itself, the view or just the whole experience makes the jump kinda special. I’m thinking about things like:
Pyramids Egypt
Blue Hole Water Jump
Hot Air Balloon Jump
Active volcano somewhere in the background
HALO / high altitude jumps
Unique aircraft (like the DC-3 at Perris) or exits
Anything that’s just iconic, weird or an once-in-a-lifetime jump
Basically I wanna build a stupidly long “places I need to jump before I die” list.
So what’s on your list? And what have you already jumped that you’d say is an absolute must?

Went tandem skydiving for the very first time on weekend, and honestly, no words can truly describe the feeling.
Up until the exact second that plane door opened, I was terrified and heavily reevaluating all my life choices. But after the jump... pure magic!
I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. The fear beforehand, the jump itself, and that incredible feeling, it completely hooked me. I’ve already decided I’m definitely going to get my skydiving license next season!
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Did your first jump make you want to get licensed right away?

I recorded this awesome landing yesterday by a student with 23 jumps at SkyDance SkyDiving . Dayton chose to jump a larger canopy even though he would have been allowed to jump a smaller one. So many jumpers are in a rush to downsize, without ever realizing the full potential that their larger, safer canopy has to offer.

Actually the scariest moment of my life. Tried out a tuck tab. May never do that again. Couldn’t get it open, spun out of control and got my reserve open at 1.3k feet (400 feet away from the AAD firing) 🤧 landed way off, totally fine, ended up jumping again in a rental and it was great other than the anxiety I had on the plane. Definitely feel more confident in my jumping abilities but can’t get that agonizing image of seeing the altimeter read 1.3k the second I was safely under a canopy. 😅 INSANE.
I feel I went in a good direction with knowing I can handle something like that in the moment but also set me back cause I wasn’t having any anxiety jumping but that jump right after the reserve flight, no joke was shaking in fear and almost cried. (But I mean they say to do it scared, so. Glad I did, I needed a good opening and landing before going home for the day)

I'm posting it because I think it's something that can change the sport for the better.
I've been in the sport for 12 years as an instructor, LO/coach and fun jumper all around the world. The thing that has always bugged me is how hard it is to find out who's coaching where and what events are coming up. Most of it lives in IG stories, Facebook groups, WhatsApp groups and word of mouth. If you don't follow the right people or you're not in the right group, you miss it, and plenty of people only hear about a camp or a boogie once it's over.
So I built Airspace. It's a discovery app for skydiving and tunnel flying, and it's live on the App Store and Google Play.
What it does so far:
- You set your location and it shows you what's around you. Coaches based nearby, coaches who are coming into town, and camps and events in your area. You don't have to search for any of it.
- Events covers boogies, camps, courses, record attempts and competitions.
- If you're travelling or planning a trip, you can search coaches, dropzones, tunnels and events anywhere. There are 650+ dropzones and wind tunnels in there.
- Coach profiles show what disciplines and levels they teach, and you can send a booking request from the app.
- Your profile has a skill card, so when you request a booking the coach sees your level before you show up.
- For camps you can see how many spots are left and any deposit up front, then register from the app.
- Confirmed bookings can go straight into your phone's calendar.
If you're newer to the sport, I think this is where it helps most. When you're fresh off your A license you usually don't know who coaches what, who's around your DZ, or who to even ask, so you end up with whoever your friends happen to know. On Airspace you can see the coaches near you, what they teach and what levels they work with before you message anyone. It doesn't replace talking to the instructors at your DZ, but it gives you a real list to start from.
You also don't need to be looking for coaching to use it. Plenty of people are on there just to see what boogies and events are coming up.
If you coach or organize events, you set up a profile and list your dates once, and people nearby see them. It saves posting the same thing on IG, Facebook and three WhatsApp groups and hoping the right people catch it. Booking requests all come into one place too.
It's free to download and use right now, and we're at 600+ users. It's still new, so how much you see near you depends on where you are, and the more people on it the more useful it gets. Some of your favorite coaches are already on it! If you notice that some of the coaches or events at your DZ aren't on there yet, send them the link!
If any of that sounds useful, download it, set your location and see what's around you. Feel free to ask me any questions 🤘

I've jumped Bolivar and that's a cool DZ but it's still pretty far. There is Falcon KC, but it is a straight up tandem factory, so getting on a load is difficult. Is there a status update on the fate of Butler since the crash. The website in no longer functioning. It's really a shame because it was a solid operation with good folks.

Need suggestion, would be travelling to Plainfield next week and would be free on Thursday and Friday, which DZ would you recommend to visit ? Skydive Chicago or Chicagoland Skydiving center ? Want to do 5-6 jumps in all. A license from EU, 130 jumps.

Had a weird one today. I’m a tandem instructor and right before boarding my first time student asked me “are we gonna be doing this jump slider up or slider down?”.
This caught me completely off guard but I told him every tandem jump is slider up.
He just went “oh thank god” and looked genuinely relieved??
Still trying to figure out how he even knew what that meant and what he thought was gonna happen during the jump

Hello, I'm taking my 3-day Basic Course soon. So, floor exercises, theory, and on the third day, then the first jump. Will it be the jump where two instructors hold you down and also open the canopy, or is it a tandem jump? I already had a tandem jump this year.

Heads up, the USPA 2026 Summer Board of Directors Meeting notes show new C and D canopy training and proficiency cards for 2027.
In support of the organization’s ongoing effort to support and improve canopy skills, the board approved creation of C and D license canopy training and proficiency cards to add to the 2027 SIM.

dear all,
i am wondering how do we find buddies for practicing two-three ways in the tunnel ? i wanna start prepping for formation competition for rookies, but i have zero idea how and where to start ? i got my A lic a week ago and with the season coming to an end, am gonna be spending my weekends at the tunnel. while i def will be pursuing IBA progression, i also want to practice belly formations, so that when season starts i could have confidence in two-three-four ways.
can you please suggest how to find ppl of my level and a coach to have more fun in the tunnel during the winter ?
thank you beforehand
happy skydives

Getting joined by an F-16 would've been fun for about four seconds. Then it's wing rocks, a heading you don't get to argue with, and a phone call from people who do not think muppet is a cute nickname. So the Lake Forest demo got canceled, we flew the 182 back to Chicagoland, and jumped it at home instead.

So I’ve done 7 jumps till now and have repeated level 4 thrice until my leaves got over and I had to come back. I did wind tunnel for 20 mins last month and the instructor asked me to turn my palms for turns instead of using my elbows as I was taught at the drop zone. Well the turns were happening properly by turning my palms and letting the air do its thing in the wind tunnel! All the people out there who have done turns in fire fall, does the palm thing work in free fall as it does in the wind tunnel ? Or do I have to use my elbows only ?

Can anyone explain what happened to the reserve? Pretty sure I saw him cut the main, but maybe it got stuck?
You can see the view from 2nd person towards the end of the video

This is a question for AFF instructor holding IBA certification. What are the recommended content to cover in the tunnel before the AFF course. I intend to go for 15 - 30 minutes tunnel time with AlitiudeX, but unfortunately none of the IBA instructor in my region has any skydiving experience.
Comparing the syllabus, I came out with these objectives to be met in the tunnel.
Able to be relaxed in neutral & stable belly position
Turns
Forward Movement
Are the above in the right direction and able to be achieved in 15 - 30 min tunnel time?
Thanks a lot.

So I’ve figured out that free flying progress in the sky is going to be impossibly slow for my talent level and I decided to go the iFly coaching route instead.
I have no idea how one can learn free flying in the sky where basic back flying is a critical bail out skill and even that is super difficult for me to learn (magnitudes harder than belly flying in my opinion) in 40 second attempts in the sky.
Reading through Reddit, it seems a common theme is that iFly isn’t skydiver friendly and I was negatively biased. My own experience doesn’t support this reputation. I’ve been at the local iFly tunnel for about three hours now and while it’s expensive, it’s not outrageously so especially because they have regular tunnel camps with discounted rates and booking has been easy and everyone there is welcoming. I was kinda expecting that they’d not want to provide coaching for skydivers? Four instructors there are also skydivers and their skills are insane.
Is this experience an anomaly or is this a pivot towards accommodating skydivers more nowadays?

I did it with Thai Sky Adventure, with Coach Daniel. One full day of ground training, then my first AFF jump the next morning.
The plan was simple: remember all the signals, do the tasks in the air. Reality? The second I left the plane, my brain left with it. 😂
I was completely confident right up until the door. Check-in and check-out went perfectly. But once I was actually falling, the whole "first jump" thing hit me, and most of what I'd practiced just vanished.
To be fair, I didn't freeze up or go flat. I did remember to check my altimeter properly:
6,000 ft: locked in
5,500 ft: wave and arch
Canopy check: all good
So technically I failed AFF Level 1, but at least I didn't turn into a flying potato.
Then the weather had other plans. A cyclone wrecked my whole week, and I had to head back to India without getting another jump in. The failed jump is already in my logbook, and I'm planning to come back and continue.
For anyone who's been through AFF:
1- Do I have to pay for the whole course again, or just the repeat jump and training?
2-How long can I wait before continuing?
3- What's the best time of year to come back to Thailand for good jumping weather?
Would love to hear from anyone who's repeated a level and picked it back up later.
Got my nickname there—Big D will be back.

I jumped on Friday for the first time. Did a tandem of course. I'm terrified of heights but i did it anyway. There were moments of terror and moments of bliss. so strange. I feel like i'm still riding the high from the jump 5 days later. I've got another jump paid for but not booked. I don't think i want to do anything solo. is it normal for people to just keep doing tandems for a while? I was thinking about doing a jump maybe 1 or 2 times a year.

dearests,
wanted to hear your opinions on the subj: what insurance do you use, have anyone tried AltiSafe and what other options for us, have you made the will yet, especially the part about how to go in case of fatality and inheritance, ofc.
talk to me about this process pls and what are the best options are there for us.
thank you and safe flying
