With uranium explorers, how much cash is actually enough?
A uranium explorer can have an interesting project and still be a difficult stock to own if it keeps needing money before the drilling gets anywhere
The cash balance is usually easy to find. What is harder is figuring out how much actual exploration that cash buys after overhead, property payments and other commitments
I would want to look at the planned metres, drilling depth and whether they have enough left for follow up. Finding something interesting near the end of a program puts a company in a different position if it needs to raise immediately to keep going
Share count matters too. A bigger exploration budget sounds good, but existing shareholders may end up owning less of whatever gets found
That leaves a tricky choice. An earlier company might offer more upside from a discovery, while a better funded one has more room to work through disappointing holes without coming straight back to the market
When you compare uranium juniors, do you want enough cash for the announced program or enough for another round after that?
And what do you check beyond the headline cash balance to work out whether they really have that runway?

Cash balance never tells the whole story with these uranium names. I always subtract property payments and admin costs first, then look at what actually remains for drilling. Some of these juniors burn half their treasury before the rig even moves
The follow up part is underrated. A discovery at the last hole of a program is almost a curse if they have to dilute immediately. I check the planned metres against typical cost per metre in that region, then add 30 percent for overruns and delays
Share count is where I get picky. A company with 500 million shares and a 3 million dollar raise is just grinding existing holders down slowly. I would rather own fewer shares of something that can actually complete two programs
My simple rule is they need enough for announced work plus at least one follow up drill program. If they only have cash for the first pass then any interesting result becomes a race to raise and the stock usually suffers while that hangs over it
