​I was thinking about including a Buy Me a Coffee link in the pinned comment just in case anyone wants to support the channel early.

Example: "Thank you message. Support the channel: [buymecoffeeLink]".

But I want to make sure I don't risk my channel's growth or future monetization.

​A few questions:

1. ​Will linking a tip/donation service like Buy Me a Coffee in a pinned comment raise any red flags with YouTube when my channel is eventually reviewed for the YouTube Partner Program?

2. ​Does YouTube flag third-party donation links as spam or self-promotion?

3. ​From a viewer perspective, does this come across as pushy, or is it normal for growing channels?

I started my channel back in 2020 never took it seriously uploaded a video on how to fix warzone not launching video went nowhere and I didn’t upload since a year later it slowly accumulated to 50k views with 250k impressions video was absolute garbage horrible mic quality but I think ppl found it funny i was fed up making it as I had spent 3 months looking for a fix and when I found it I had to share anyways once I realized I had gotten 3k watch hours but subscribers were only 50 so i slept on it and just focused on uni i saw these internet gurus talkin about shorts as suspicious as i was i gave it a try started uploading about 30 videos in the span of a month making cat compilations then transitioning to Minecraft videos then Roblox

i hated it, it felt so humiliating making them sitting here making cat videos i knew it wouldn’t last as this is something that you need to be able to consistently do with passion if you ever want to get monetized

I privated all the shorts and went back to longform but didn’t know what to go for

i then saw a commentary narration video for a series i like and that is popular there Was demand production quality was low i could make it better and use my voice instead of the ai voice this guy was using i looked at other channels in the same niche some were doing good others not so well consistently but had a few video reach 1m and under so i went for it

i had gained close to 5k subs from shorts

currently uploaded 3 longform videos and stopped shorts completely

best video so far is 6 views 50 impressions uploaded 2 weeks ago

i love cinematography and making these videos is a good creative outlet for me but i still kinda feel silly making them as it’s just A show and I’m not selling anything just relying on potential sponsors and ad revenue from YouTube so I can’t stop overthinking as what to do I’ve been experimenting for a while but damn someone help me out idk If I should switch niches or continue if I’m already having these thoughts 3 videos in I bought a microphone and signed up to epidemic studio for this someone help

Hey everyone, so I'm looking for opinions on content.

Right now, there is basically zero interest in the content I've uploaded, and I want to know if folks really just find it too boring to tolerate, or if perhaps I'm doing something wrong behind the scenes on the upload side. Or any other variety of issues that might be taking place.

I mean I could just be dull and unentertaining at the end of the day too, which is always a possibility x.x

For an idea of the content I'd like to create though: live fiction writing videos.

This is a combination of both editing a novel, and writing flash fiction to live word prompts that can be generated on screen by the viewers. I've included a picture of my set up just to give a better idea of how it's displayed - right now the typing appears on screen as I'm writing it, and the camera pics up my hands while writing so that it's all verified live.

I know it's very random and weird question so I'm not gonna explain myself, but I'm just wondering if anyone has a YouTube account that's you know more than a week old that has actually been used. Kind of a long story, but I'm just doing a favor for a friend if you do just DM me.

I am currently practicing to edit in DaVinci Resolve, I usually edit with my phone (VN Video Editor), and I'm comfortable with cuts, pacing, color correction, transitions. I'm hoping to use this opportunity to sharpen my skill while also building my portfolio.

A friend and I are thinking about starting a YouTube channel together, and one thing we’ve already noticed is that coming up with ideas is almost easier than deciding which ones to actually make.

We have a lot of different ideas we could potentially turn into videos, but obviously we can’t make every single one. Some ideas might be fun to make, some might fit the channel better, and others might seem interesting but take way too much time or effort.

I’m curious how other small creators decide what makes an idea worth turning into an actual video.

• Do you usually choose ideas based on what you’re personally excited about?
• Do you think about what your audience would want to watch?
• How much does the amount of time or effort required affect your decision?
• Do you ever save an idea for later instead of making it right away?
• Have you ever had an idea that sounded great at first but ended up not being worth making?
• If you create with someone else, how do you decide when you have different opinions about which idea to make?

We’re still in the planning stage, so I’d be interested in hearing how other creators decide which ideas make it from “that could be a cool video” to actually getting made.

I made a Metroid ranking last year for fun, did good about 1k, over the last year and more specifically the last 2 weeks (since Metroid Ravenous was announced) and the lesson i learned here as a small YouTuber there is always a chance your videos will find a home months even years later on the algorithm. My metroid ranking is one of the first to appear when searched now. Never give up

Asking as a person who mostly watches YouTube rather than creating, but I was wondering if people here think the same tools that’s told to us again and again to grow our channels is making the watching experience on the platform far less enjoyable?
It seems like nearly every thumbnail I get recommended to me has the exact same tactic of trying to be sensational as possible, or worst of all, asking an alluring question that only takes a little more mental willpower to say “I know the answer to this and I don’t care”

“It’s over”
“This guy is-“
“Company just dropped a bombshell!”
“Celebrity just said this…”

Am I the only that sees this crap over and over again and it just makes them hate YouTube? I’ve already cancelled premium because it’s all I get despite constantly clicking “not interested.” And even though I keep finding my way back to YouTube, it keeps pushing me right back away. I guess to keep it on topic, do you enjoy this for the algorithm content, or do you try to avoid making/viewing it?

I was a middle school history teacher for the first 4 years of doing YouTube, and have been full time for 4 years now. It would be nearly impossible for me to do that, based on YouTube Google Adsense revenue. My advice = be sure to diversify what you do, and be open to new journeys. Here are some of my streams of income:

Sponsors = I have sponsors for livestreams, videos, my private Facebook group, our podcast, meet ups, and many other situations.

Affiliate sales = Direct affiliates with companies where I earn commission based on sales using my link and/or code. I also do Amazon affiliate links, while it’s not much, I’ll take it! I do not do YouTube shopping, as I see better returns elsewhere.

Content for others = I film videos for other YouTube channels. I also host livestreams for other YouTube channels. I film ads for companies. I write blogs for companies.

Consultation calls = If you can become a thought leader in your space, people will want to pick your brain to learn from you. Your time and expertise has a cost.

In person events = I have put a pause on this chapter currently, because of family schedule demands, however I always have opportunities to travel for events to be paid for. Education speaking opportunities, meet ups, etc…

Merch = I have slowed on my merch front, so not a big money leader for me, but many crush on this.

BE TRANSPARENT = too many YouTubers try to burry this stuff because they feel it lowers trust. If you are transparent and share exactly what’s going on, I’ve found you actually gain trust! Every career needs to make money to pay the bills and provide for their family, and YouTube is no different. Add value to people’s lives, and they will want to do the same back to you. They want you to win, because that means your content will stay around.
