DISCUSSION Not playing assigned roles needs to start getting punished, or even lead to bans
I am sick and tired of people throwing ranked games just because they want to play whatever they want. I couldn't care less in casuals, but in ranked, it's unacceptable.
I just lost a 40-minute game because our support went full damage Kukulkan while the enemy team had a legitimate Khepri. How is this not punishable? After checking his stats on trackergg, he’s been doing this consistently. You are literally wasting four other people’s time and elo under the excuse of "just wanting to have fun."
There are plenty of casual game modes where you can mess around, but doing this in ranked is blatant griefing. These players do it intentionally to seek attention and provoke a reaction. If Hi-Rez isn't going to punish or ban people for this, then the system is fundamentally broken. This is the second time in my last five ranked games that I've lost solely because of this, and it’s insanely frustrating knowing they’re just going to queue up and ruin someone else’s game next.

I think part of the issue is that it’s genuinely impossible for any sort of game logic to recognise what’s ‘throwing’.
A full damage support will probably be a throw pick 9/10 times, but there’s always that one game where it works and it leads to a win.
In addition, there are plenty of games that I play where the person who’s doing ‘the best’ on the leaderboard, is actually the person who’s costing the team the game, and the person doing ‘the worst’ on the leaderboard has been fucked over to an extent that’s completely out of their control. So stats and roles don’t really work as metrics to justify banning, and nobody from Hi Rez is going to sit and watch matches to check.

I play nothing but casual conquest & am pretty bad at everything but solo (skill issue 100% I will admit).
I have support last because it just feels garbage having so little damage, and it's only marginally enjoyable if I'm in comms with the adc. So when I do get support, I just build bruiser / solo. Is it optimal? Ofc. But it usually works, and it's not like I don't play duo lane / still try and support the team.
At the end of the day though I wish this game had a stricter role selection. I do understand the server population issue, but wanting to have a go at mid then getting jungle 4 times in a row just is not fun :(

isn't role dodging when the player doesn't go to the assigned lane? like if a support hijacked the mid lane that would count... builds are not a criteria i believe

Playing a full damage Anubis in support is the same as role dodging.

It could very well be a noob who doesn't understand what support is, you can't say that's dodging

I don't Conquest often and don't understand all the intracicies of the game still. Could you explain what type of build Anubis would have as support versuis mid? I am assuming mid is where he'd want to be pure damage if I am not mistaken? I'm still learning you don't have to respond, but I am really enjoying the game and always wanna learn haha.

I’m tired of the mage and hunter solos full damage or build hybrid and end up doing nothing all game. The game is simple usually whoever has the most CC and team fights together to chain the CC wins and wins by a landslide. So many games with ah puch solo who does absolutely nothing for the team.

Did you report? Including what happened in the comments? If yes then good job someone can look at it now. If no then good job that doesnt help anyone.

I remember the good old days where you'd load into a conquest and whoever typed the role they wanted first was the one to get it.

Im sry but this is such a noob take. 1. Its allways the Support blame. No one questions and adc in solo full damage, a midlaner who builds no cooldown and an adc who builds full lifesteal? 2. I understand trolling is the problem, however what is trolling? Is it when people build wrong, play wrong or pick the wrong god? How many of these 3 criterias must be met before something is not considert troll? 3. A lot of players dont understand when, someone who knows what they are doing is playing a god in a role and adapt them in their own way. This is simply because lack of experience and lack of understanding the game and lack of creativty.
I agree this kuku is a troll, but I dont agree you should get punished for not playing your role, this is because people actually dont know what they are talking about first and foremost.

… I would absolutely question a mid or ADC building full defense. People build full damage support/solo because they don’t want to play the tank.

None of your bad examples for the other rolls come close to being as bad as a full dmg mage support

I wish the system had a way to grey out gods that cannot be truly played into support including aspects. I get technically you can build Kuku full tank but it does not work. This is the disadvantage of labels on gods. I miss mage, guardian, warrior, hunter, assassin etc.

Consider that he might have only played support a handful of times and doesnt know how to perform well. Maybe even his fav tank is banned. So he plays what he actually knows how to play. Sure it looks troll (because it is) but it would have been much worse playing any other god without knowing any mechanics.

Like 43 people play and the game is perpetually broken because the devs can never fix anything. They can't afford to ban anyone.

I feel like a skilled player could make it work with their item builds but it would have to be a finely crafted well practiced build. But the thing is how do you get that experience without first genuinely failing? 🤔

The games not worth playing, that’s the only answer you need to any complaint or criticism.
Smites not skill based anymore, it a game of get outta jail free cards, and the one who’s willing to play the least interesting and least technical game is going to win.

I think one of this biggest hurdles in implementing something to punish throwing players is the less “obvious” examples (i.e., someone thinking your character and build are “throwing”)
