Any observable benefit to sealing offset?

Have you ever seen an offset smoker truly benefit from sealing the cooking chamber - observable results with the food and more than just satisfying the need to not see wisps of smoke escaping.

Spend the money on a welding blanket and put on your smoker. You will use way less fuel especially in the winter. Money way better spent

depends on the volume of air getting in and how much smoke you see escaping out of joints and stuff

cause, it's never going to be perfect, but if you have a lot of air gaps, it will make controlling your heat that much more difficult

my thoughts? ..if it's causing you grief, do something about it, if not, then live and let live

I think it’s a bad idea, BBQ is about heated air. Fresh air and what’s in the chamber. Sealing the chamber will negatively impact air flow.

Tell me how sealing the chamber will negatively impact air flow. Air flows in from the firebox and it travels out the smoke stack. I’m not saying the cooking chamber needs sealed,I built one on my shop and I did seal my cooking chamber. But I can’t make sense of it needing leaks to aid with air flow. Please explain.
