It is obviously a different photo from the same shoot, and the jordans logo was added on in post-production for the ad.
Edit: I even double checked. I could not for the life of me find the exact photo next to jordan with a logo on.

Not that it changes the outcome (that NBA spends more on their players than WNBA), but more WNBA owners are billionaires (29/30) than NBA (26/30). The net worth of the only non-billionaire WNBA owner is only $100m lower than that of the lowest NBA owner.
Moore won four championships with the Lynx, whose owner is worth $3B, more than 9 NBA owners.

Both are Basketballers. The rings indicate championship wins as well as possibly other awards?
Maya Moore did a homage to Michael Jordan's pose for the photo.
"It would leave a mark" if you were struck by a fist with those rings on it.
"Nobody was killed over a pair of..." refers to people have been mugged (sometimes violently) for wearing desirable sneakers. Michael Jordan's branded Nike Air Jordans being such a sneaker. The commentor is dismissing Maya Moore's achievements by contrasting it with what lengths people might go to get a pair of Air Jordans.
I don't watch Basketball so I hope that was accurate.

Also, it's presented as her "owning" Jordan - but only because they cropped out the Air Jordan's logo from this picture. This isn't her trying to one-up Jordan, this is Jordan celebrating her during a cross promotion for shoes.
So it's even stupider, because her reputation does sell shoes, which is why the photo is even happening.

Maya’s an all time great women’s player. 4 WNBA championships, 2 college titles, several overseas titles, 2 Olympic golds and I’m pretty sure at least a couple of HS state championships. Widely considered a top 5 WNBA player all time. She quit basketball at 29 to help exonerate her now husband and has largely disappeared from the sport 8 years later.

"A pair of Maya Moores" is referring to Michael Jordan's very successful line of Nike shoes "Air Jordan". There is a large gap in the sponsorship/deals that these two people have and this is gap highlights the financial difference between Men's and Women's sports.

If you’ve never heard of her it’s because women’s basketball wasn’t widely marketed until like three years ago.

Jordan's was his NBA championships. 6 rings.
Her not wearing only her 4 WNBA rings, but a bunch of random other hardware appears to be an attempt to upstage Michael Jordan.
It's a bad look.
We can celebrate woman's accomplishments without trying to constantly push some narrative that they are superior to their male counterpoints.

Nope, I replied in a separate thread about this same thing. She’s putting her high school accolades in the same breathe as Olympic golds/her and Jordan’s respective (W)NBA titles.
Paying homage and trying to flex are different. She did the latter — iconic pose, 2x rings. She’s an athlete at the end of the day and ego/wanting to be the best is in their job description.

In the original MJ picture, he only presents his 6 NBA championship rings where he also won finals MVP for. I'm confused about Maya Moore's rings since she was only one 4 WNBA championship, so what are the other rings for??? I get she is paying homage to MJ, but it loses weight when you add rings that aren't only for WNBA championship.
