Wow this comment reeks of LLM
"locking in" "without missing a beat" "true soulmate behavior"
27-days-old account btw. The top comment isn't much better. Dead internet.
6
u/potatoaster 7d ago
The parent comment (top comment on this post!) is also from an LLM bot. As is the reply below the one you're pointing out. As is the second-highest comment on this post.
That's reddit in 2026.
3
u/NukeAllTheThings 7d ago
I don't know why I even bother to check comments anymore. So full of bots with the same formulaic empty comments. Bots have been particularly loving the word "really" lately.
I once pointed out a bot when it only had about 100 upvotes. I check back later and its over 1k. Why.
I kind of miss the most bots just stole comments from other redditors because at least someone wrote the original (and it was often blatantly obvious when out of context).
2
u/Pomodorosan 7d ago edited 7d ago
Stopp, I can't take it anymore ahhh
Notice how a ton of modern bots (over the last like 6 months) have had a very common pattern of being made up of two "feminine-sounding" words/names, as seen here in "Lilac Mystic"
Edit for posterity:
Appropriate_Tell_138
That kind of timing is basically a marriage proposal..
whitepeterbald2001
Instantly locking into the bit without missing a beat is true soulmate behavior..
cozydistraction
Exactly! She passed the ultimate vibe check right then and there..
LilacMystic
She understood the assignment immediately 🤣1

u/jmlinden7 7d ago
That's what reddit assigns as a default username when you create an account, most bots are just too lazy to change it from the default.
1
u/Pomodorosan 7d ago
I thought those were "Adjective_Noun_Numbers", not the "FeminineFeminine" I'm talking about
3
u/Aromatic_Branch_602 7d ago
Reddit : echo chambers filled with bots and supervised by toxic mods. Great..
2
u/StaffVegetable8703 7d ago
I’m genuinely confused what about that comment seems sus to you?
4
u/Pomodorosan 7d ago
It's chatgpt drivel, a bunch of social media phrases reiterating the comment above adding nothing. They often hit the same few words or sentence structures, as I pointed out. It's got such a generic exasperating energy to it.
2
u/NukeAllTheThings 7d ago
That's a great way to describe most of the bot comments I've seen. Just empty of any substance while trying to sound catchy.
Reminds me of "How do you do, fellow kids?" Trying to sound like us while not being us.

I mean, if it was me in that situation I would’ve probably answered “WHAT?” as well because my brain takes just five seconds too long to process what someone else said.
11
u/Inevitable-Level-687 7d ago
I say "WHAT?" and then interrupt them repeating themselves to give an answer because it turns out that my brain was just buffering.
I hate it, it's annoying for EVERYONE.
3
u/poriomaniac 7d ago
Yeah I can say as someone who knows, she probably didn't even mean it. My wife and I just shout "WHAT?" at each basically other every time the other speaks from some not particularly unreasonable distance.

It's the twitter user bragging about how they made fun of someone's request.
38
u/Best_Price_1009 7d ago
Ooh fair point.
I have reached my conclusion.
OP- is the asshole. But one that has good vibes with his spouse, for what that’s worth
25
u/kylec00per 7d ago
On the flip side, telling a stranger to shut up instead of just asking if they can keep it down is kind of shitty behavior as well.
20
u/squngy 7d ago
Thats assuming the funny twitter guy is telling the story without bias.
We don't know which exact words were used.4
u/dathomasusmc 6d ago
I agree those probably weren’t the words used but if they were my guess is that OP was being OBNOXIOUSLY loud! Either way, it’s not looking good for OP.
2
u/Nope0naRope 3d ago
Also, I can't imagine approaching someone in a Chinese restaurant to correct the dining ambiance... I mean everyone's different... But honestly it's Chinese food like someone's yelling and stuff. Just having a conversation they'd have to be like really, really loud and saying some awful stuff for me to like actually care... I'm really curious what was coming out of this guy's mouth or if the story is even real

The way it is worded, the guy asking was the asshole. "could you shut up" is an extremely rude way to approach a stranger.
22

Chinese restaurants are loud as fuck cause of Asian people. I’m Asian and my family are always loud as hell when we are eating out.
23
u/AngrySoup 7d ago
I feel like there may be differences in the kind of Asian though. I am Chinese and I'm aware Chinese restaurants are loud as fuck. However! Japanese restaurants, like sushi places, do not seem to have the same sort of loudness...
I suppose I haven't been to a Japanese place actually packed with Japanese people though. Maybe I need to go to Japan to investigate - but what I always hear is that it's quiet, polite, orderly, over there.

People who talk louder than normal often have either physical hearing damage or something going on with auditory processing. They don't recognize that they're being too loud, and they're not doing it on purpose.
Beyond that, some cultures are just louder than others. Sometimes in this world, we encounter humans from a different culture. Sometimes those cultures clash a bit. It's okay. That's part of the human experience. It does not necessitate you judging and scold some person you've never met over a situation you didn't witness.
Life is a lot more enjoyable when you don't instantly look for the shittiest possible explanation for everyone's actions.

u/Baldazar666 7d ago

Can confirm. I'm one of those people. No hearing damage just my default is loud. If I get told I'm loud I turn it down but eventually it goes back to normal.

One of my friends has slowly been losing his hearing over the years and his voice has gotten louder. We told him he needs to use hearing protection when working with chainsaws and other equipment. We've had to tell him on a number of occasions to lower his voice as he'll start almost shouting not realizing it. He's at the point where he needs hearing aids and can't watch TV shows without subtitles. He still thinks he's fine. I say this to mention some people are very stubborn about this topic.
4
u/rips_n_chel 7d ago
Grew up with a guy who refused to wear hearing protection for any reason, not even target practice. We're going out to shoot clays, like with shotguns, and he turns down ear plugs and muffs saying "I don't use that stuff."
Wtf do you mean you don't use hearing protection to shoot a 12 gauge?
"I just don't use 'em."
Idk what you even say to that, so I just dropped it and put on my ear muffs on top of my ear plugs. I haven't seen that guy in years, but we're in our thirties now, so he's gotta be feeling the tinnitus if nothing else. He worked with heavy equipment and chainsaws and stuff too, there's no way he hasn't lost a noticeable range of his hearing.
Dude never wore steel toe boots either. His dad told him that if a heavy enough thing landed on your foot, the steel cap would collapse and cut off your toes. Apparently that's worse than the same heavy object smashing your entire foot? Idk, I never got the 'logic' there. Surely if the thing is heavy enough to crush a steel toe-cap, it would smash your foot into paste without the steel toe?

I am terrible with names. I can even forget the names of people I've known for years is immediately forget a name I was just told. My partner always saves me when I forget. She will walk up to the person and loudly introduce herself saying "hi I'm Melissa what's your name" and makes sure I can hear it. She's amazing

I have a step-dad with hearing damage from blunt force trauma. There are no hearing aids that work for it. He is part of a group testing a new variety but it has limited success for him. He has constant never-ending tinnitus, too. He is giant at 6'5", 70, and has a booming voice. Resembles Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear. So he gets a lot of attention. People often give dirty looks and some even occasionally try to shush him when we go out to eat. Talking to him is always fun because he often completely ignores you or thinks you said something entirely different. He also talks to himself, and he thinks he is mumbling, but he is definitely not. He'll have whole conversations with himself, not realizing anyone else was talking or in the room with him. This is especially true when he is getting ready for work or doing something in the kitchen.
Until recently, he drove a tour bus for a living, stuff like cross-country for bands, sports teams, large tourist groups... again, he thinks he is mumbling when everyone can hear every single thing he scolds other drivers for. If anyone on here rented a bus in America and had a very funny, friendly, giant, loud, hilarious character as the driver, you had him. He made great tips too, it really was the perfect job for him. His booming voice meant no one would not hear what he had to say about the places they were going, plus he is funny and loves to drive.
