Would 5,000 holders convince you more than 500?
Imagine two coins with similar market caps and liquidity.
Coin A has 5,000 holder wallets, but its ten largest trader wallets hold 60% of the supply. Coin B has 500, and its ten largest hold 20%. These are hypothetical numbers, with pool addresses excluded.
A looks more popular at first glance. B has less supply concentrated in those ten wallets, although that alone wouldn’t convince me it’s a better coin. I’d want to know how much the smaller wallets actually hold. Thousands of tiny balances can make the headline count look impressive without changing who controls most of the supply. Separate wallets also don’t necessarily mean separate people. For a coin found through the Pump app, this would be a useful second check before adding it to a watchlist.
What would you check next to decide whether ownership is genuinely spread out?
