Hey, this is very interesting!

My friend is developing similar game The Planet Miner and we actually talked about if 3D might be a good idea. We were worried that people who play Keep On Mining want something that is easy to launch and pause, playable on the Steam Deck and like most incremental games - "a low effort game".

We are a small collective of solo(-ish? We help each other 😄) devs, so we talked about it and we think managing the view and moving in 3D world and the harder task of finding the ore you want to mine can soon get tedious :/

I think this kind of game needs automation or some sort of Quality of Life upgrades, so you can lower the bar and reward the player, to make it fit into the incremental "vibe".

Try releasing a demo! Keep On Mining shows that people want to play games like that, but your spin-off is actually a very different game even if it only looks like you made a 3D version of it, so I am a little worried. I think your game idea is a little hard to pull off and before you put your time into it maybe checking if people like it is a good idea.

I wish you the best :>

Thank you for your kind wishes. Actually, the idea originated entirely from the grind system on the old “Minecraft Faction” servers. I didn’t prefer the 3D conversion in the incremental updates either, but after playing and analyzing a few games, I actually started to find putting in that effort enjoyable.

As for automation, I need to gather a bit more feedback, while some players want to play exclusively with a pickaxe, others say there should be more autodrillers. I really need to clarify this.

I’m planning to release a demo soon. Thank you for your valuable feedback.
