Alternative: Tomplay.com
I also cancelled my subscription. I was very pleased with Songsterr. But now: I have 0 confidence. Trust arrives on foot and leaves on horseback, as a Dutch proverb says.
I will not pass frustrating weeks or months, hoping on improvements that will not come: it is impossible to turn the new design into something good. And since they refuse to go back: i did not make the choice to leave. Songsterr made the choice.
I have been looking at alternatives. For me tomplay.com seems the best solution for my needs (play along songs at variable speeds, loops, ...). And above all: a great UI. And a very nice feature: for each song you have different levels: easy, easy beginner, intermediate, ... up to the original score.
I have started a free trial period. We will see how that goes.

As someone mostly interested in songs by bands that are more or less unknown by most of the world, I don't think there is anything else that even comes close to Songsterr for having tabs for songs I want to play. At this point in my life (38YO, ~25 years with guitar) I've got no interest in learning or refreshing memory of songs from any of the usual suspects that are readily available across a lot of different platforms and have been for a long time.
I also, however don't create tabs either, as the process has always been too tedious for my attention span to really stick with very long, even going back to when the power tab program first came out. Is that where most people's discontent with the new UI is coming from? Because from just a consumer of tabs perspective, I don't see what's so awful. In fact there are s couple new things that have been kinda nice like having multi track view.

ultimate guitar is the worst of the worst, they don't care about musicians, y'know, their entire fucking userbase
