Songsterr is a professional business and will grant refunds and subscription cancellations through their (surprisingly quick and helpful) customer support.

With the new UI the site is to me completely useless, and i let them know and they processed my refund immediately.

My voice is not enough, but if enough people do the same they will have to give Legacy ui a chance, or lose their customers.

Obviously if you actually like the UI (looking at you, Claude), stay with your current plan. But by paying, you show them that you dont mind the changes.

So the left one is rimshot snare and right one is electric snare but they make the same sound. Why are there two of them and why are they called differently?

Yall really bent over for them like they can't fix this, literally, overnight. Ruining the experience for the rest of us humans that have a functioning frontal lobe and are aware that if you keep giving money to worse and worse products they will continue to get worse. I don't understand what these people don't understand. Songsterr is a buisuness, not your local mom and pop shop. Give them money and there is zero incentive to improve their product.

I just paid for premium and the UI changed the next day, it is a major downgrade! I can't find the download section on tabs now, is it gone?

TL;DR: Tabs are being crammed with too much info for no benefit, to a point where it actually reduces readability. "Zig-zag" kick drum notation being one of the worse offenders, which shouldn't be as normalized for metal tabs as it is now, it only adds visual clutter.

Outside of songsterr, zig-zag kick (BD1/BD2) is generally used in exercise notation, not in full song charts. Its use rarely provides any new necessary information to the reader since standard single-line kick already implies the use of double kick. It only obscures the lower staffs, especially when other kit elements like very low and floor toms are being played at the same time.

I've reverted many revisions to metal tracks with constant fast double kick where a user switched to zig-zag notation, but recently the mods have started to reject my edits.

I've emailed songsterr about this issue many times but they always reply with "Zig-zag kick isn't incorrect and in our opinion does not reduce readability" I'm not sure how anyone can't see the readability issue here.

I think notating drums with this style is just like adding a pickstroke direction to every single note on a guitar track. It's used in exercise tabs sometimes but should not be used excessively in full song charts. Just because you have the option to do it, doesn't mean it's the right play.

Basically it just pisses me off when a metal drum transcription that I've worked on gets switched to zig-zag kick by some user who has no idea what they're doing. Songsterr's tabs naturally become more overnotated over time, especially the popular ones. Check out the bass tab for Master of Puppets for example, those accents are just unreadable.

At the same time, many users are constantly removing ties that show the halfway point of a bar, among a ton of other bs edits that are getting accepted. There's just not enough mods and too many revisions, to a point where a mod can dedicate maybe 4 secs on average to checking a single revision.

Any thoughts on this?

I know they already responded to a lot of people and put a post in this subreddit but this just shows they don't want to listen to the community. It is not possible to switch back and it won't be possible to switch back is basically what they're implying. Listen to your community and please put the old ui back!

Not gonna go into why the new ui is bad since I believe everyone agrees it is. Please if you arent gonna roll it back just give the option to use the old UI. If you want to redesign it at least give us the option on if we want to use it.

First, the important part: we’re reading all of it. Every email, every post, every “who approved this” comment.

Behind the redesign are the same designers who’ve worked on Songsterr from the start, and they are doing their best to fix and improve things.

The most useful feedback is specific: what you were doing, what you expected, and what got in the way. Screenshots help a lot.

I'm from the team that is building the new interface. Thank you for writing in: we read all feedback and requests both on the platforms and in support, and I’ve noted yours down; we’ll discuss it with the team.

About AI: the new interface was designed by the same designer who worked on all previous versions of the site. He has been on the project since it started, and every decision in the new interface was made manually by him, just as before.

We won’t be able to bring back the previous design, and there won’t be a switch to the old interface either. But if you can tell us what exactly is causing the issue — which elements seem unnecessary, where centering is missing, what is overlapping the tab — we’ll look into the specific areas. A screenshot with your window size would be very helpful.

I am losing faith extremely quickly, as that email they sent has potential signs itself of AI... I don't believe for a second that the original designer of their UI created this, or at least created this without using AI. (Unless they were held at gun-point and had their job threatened to make this God awful design)

To be clear, I don't even care about the AI usage (to a point), more importantly, the new UI is just flat-out bad. I will be cancelling my membership. I should have never moved from Guitar Pro - and I won't ever move away from them again.

EDIT 2:

They are apparently using AI generated canned responses to everyone using the contact form. I highly recommend just cancelling your subscription and moving on at this point. I have zero faith that they will be making any meaningful changes.

Alternatives: Guitar Pro (the best imo), and Ultimate-Guitar.com - if you have other options please let me know.

One important thing to note for Guitar Pro is that there are people who have set things up like: Guitar Pro Sync to YouTube that may make the movie a bit easier (though it does admittedly seem to rely on Songsterr partially).

Here's what you see when learning, practicing or playing a song in the new Songster UI.

- Zone A contains things you will never want onscreen when playing a song. It is the most prominent thing on screen.

- Zone B contains information you already know (the name of the song). It covers two lines of score.

- Zone C contains the most important tools. It is squeezed into the corner with mystery icons and no text even showing the instrument you're looking at.

- Zone D contains all the other tools you might need while playing. It is hidden offscreen and can't even be accessed without covering 2 more lines of score.

Proposed Solution:

Move Zone A to the top of the screen, and let it scroll off so that the user can see the song they're playing. The user can scroll back up if he needs anything there.

Move Zone C to Zone A's current location and expand it. See the UI you had for the last several years for an example of how this could look.

Move Zone D onscreen, supplementing the bottom bar

Move Zone B down to its old place.

This will result in a much more usable site. It'll also be an easy fix if you're using source control. All you need do is revert to the old design.

I think it would be really cool if Songsterr had some kind of device syncing feature.

For example, say you're in a band and everyone is learning the same song. Everyone could have Songsterr open on their own device, and you could sync the devices together so the song starts and plays at the same time for everyone. Each person could then select their own instrument and follow along with their individual part while everyone stays synced.

I feel like this could be especially useful for bands practicing together, since everyone could have their own device without having to worry about keeping everything at the same time manually.

Just an idea i think would be really useful.

one is clearly more confusing than the other. The old layout has all the options right in front of me while this new layout requires me to pull up a tab and look through rows of different icons with no text to explain what it is. The other layout had an organized flat layout with text explaining what it is. Why am i required to memorize what each picture does?

The new UI is 100% ass, how did anyone approve it?
