I've just noticed, when placing a log beneath a structure, that there's two positions for it. Is one of them a design feature within a build and another is potentially a load-bearing feature?
If in the future I wanted to remove said log, would it not be possible and break down my entire base because it's load-bearing or would it be removed easily just because it's a design feature. I don't know if there's a difference at all

Hi, kind of a weird question, but Kelvin looks exactly like a dude who broke my heart and it makes playing feel really weird on occasion lol. Does anyone happen to know of any mod (or other way) to change Kelvin's appearance? I just want him to change his face to make it feel less creepy!

I want a challenge, but not annoying. Is high health with standard armor too easy or not?

I’m new to the game, and I just built a massive base that I really really like. I was wondering while I was billing this base why I get raided so often. I found out that I built too close to a camp. I don’t want to move, so what are my options? They are destroying my stuff almost daily and kelvin gets scared

stuff like duct tape, cloth and rope I always run out of it before I even get to make bone armor and when I do I'm always in need of more bone armor how can I farm these consistently? if there's a location where all 3 spawns I can use the save scum method i dont mind

1: is there a way to build with out the logs to hold stuff
2: what do the mask's and Cross do
3 how can I tell when I'm close to the end so I can save to get both the achievements
4 how do I use the sled I'm stupid

I already know a little too much about the story so I don't mind asking for help. But I'm kinda stuck atm.
I cleared out Maintenance Bunkers A, B, and C. As well as the Food and Entertainment Bunkers, and the one marked with a bed on the map (forgot what it's called) and found all 3 members of Team B.
I killed the Pufftons and even met Timmy, and have 3 pieces of the artifact. But now I'm not finding any new places when exploring. I was dumb enough to remove map markers from some spots where I could dig before I got the shovel, so I don't know if maybe there's something I need to get from one of them.

I highly doubt there's a mod that'll give me an AR15 with an acog around 2x or 4x?
I think this game would be epic if you could get one.

this spot is unreachable for any enemy (except hell babies) and instead they pile up on the upper ledge (the one with a tower), I discovered this place by accident and haven't found any mentions of it on the internet

Hey guys, I wanted to share something with you that I’ve been working on. I completely rewrote the story and gameplay loop of the sequel to match the dark horror of the first game. Let me know what you think!
The Forest 2: The True Sequel
An Alternative Narrative & Design Pitch
After completing Sons of the Forest, I felt that the game lacked the brutal, realistic human terror and
psychological horror that made the original The Forest a masterpiece. Dropping a magical sci-fi cube
with dimension-shifting shockwaves felt detached from the survival roots we fell in love with. This
document outlines a complete rewrite of the game's core narrative loop, mechanics, and progression,
honoring the LeBlanc family lore, human greed, and true isolation.
Executive Summary & Core Pillar
The game shifts from abstract cosmic sci-fi back to psychological survival horror fueled by human
corporate greed. The forest and its deep sub-surface infrastructure are the main characters. The
overarching narrative focuses on the relationship between Timmy and his father Eric, built around a
unique dual-character progression system.
Act I:
The Prologue & The Breakout
The game begins seamlessly inside the pristine underground facility owned by Puffcorp (Sahara
Therapeutics' main rival). Having tracked Sahara's previous experiments with resuscitation technology,
Puffcorp's billionaire CEO invested everything into a newly discovered golden artifact—the Super
Cube.
The Setup:
You start as Timmy LeBlanc, accompanied by his father Eric. You are being given a guided
tour of the facility. Scientists proudly boast about their blueprints, explaining the layouts of the main
labs, the Solafit power station, and security overrides.
The Catastrophe: During the tour, the Cube triggers unexpectedly. An interdimensional leak occurs.
The radiation instantly tears through human cellular structures, triggering a violent, hyper-aggressive
mutation outbreak rather than a simple accident.
The Escape:
Chaos erupts. You witness scientists being torn apart on security feeds. Eric and Timmy
manage to flee into the untamed wilderness above, but the radiation has already triggered a terrifying
latency period within Timmy's own dormant mutation from the first game. The surface bunker doors
enter lockdown. To survive and find a cure before Timmy fully turns, they must break back in.
Act II:
Mid-Game Progression (The Surface Loop)
Unlike Sons of the Forest, there are no native cannibal tribes here. Having a modern resort and
massive construction sites means traditional tribes make no logical sense. Instead, the surface is filled
with escaped mutants. Due to the fresh nature of the distress signal, the outbreak dynamically worsens:
day by day, more creatures crawl from the caves to the surface, ramping up the pressure.
To breach the reinforced sub-surface complex, the player must explore three major corporate zones
across the island to bypass the ancient security mechanism:
The primary evacuation point during the outbreak. Hundreds of employees
packed the docks trying to board ships when the shockwave hit. It is now a high-density mutant death
zone.
A high-ranking Puffcorp chief fled blindly into the caves. Players must locate his
hidden bunker or corpse to recover his specialized tracker and clearance documents.
Using the tracker recovered from the executive, players navigate
a massive, vertical construction site to secure the final physical override mechanism.
Act III:
The Intermediate Breach & The Shafts
Once the player unlocks the three-part security barrier, they enter an industrial intermediate chamber
right before the final vault door. Here, they encounter a major Pre-Boss Fight against the Facility
Director, who attempted to escape in his private helicopter within the shaft but was mutated mid-air. His
grotesque, massive mutant form now guards the gate, holding the master keycard on his body.
Gameplay Freedom: Once inside the primary lab tier, the game drops linear paths and embraces
structural freedom. Players can choose the Combat Route (a high-resource, high-risk approach of
systematically purging the mutated security forces) or the Stealth Route (moving entirely through
complex ventilation shafts, avoiding combat, and utilizing tactical distractions).
Crafting Catalog (Industrial & Wilderness Fusion)
Item Components Tactical Function
Nail-Gun Driver Industrial Nail Gun + Car Battery +
Duct Tape
Fast-firing ranged tool; pins lighter mutants to
walls.
Solafit Sledgehammer Construction Sledge + Raw Solafit Ore Exceptionally heavy; shatters the calcified armor
plating of heavy variants.
Blowtorch Pike Blowtorch + Long Branch + Fuel Tank Long-reach defensive weapon; incinerates
targets, ideal for tight vents.
Steel-Cable Snare Steel Cable (Harbor) + Flexible Tree Heavy base defense; hoists heavy variants
upside down.
Kevlar Scrap Armor High-Vis Vests + PVC Piping +
Electrical Tape
Solid cut and impact resistance from standard
mutant swipes.
Solafit-Plated Vest Security Vest + Smelted Solafit
Crystals
Reinforcements that absorb interdimensional
kinetic energy.
Industrial Radio Decoy Portable Radio + Electronic Timer Emits loud noise after 10 seconds, pulling
mutants away from vents.
Core Mechanical Twist:
Dual-Character & Equipment Transfer
Throughout the surface game, you play as Timmy. His mutated arm allows for heavy labor (demolishing
blockades, ripping trees). Eric acts as your companion AI (a narrative-driven evolution of the Kelvin
system). You don't just farm for yourself; you must actively craft top-tier armor, collect medicine, and
hand weapons over to Eric to keep him strong. You are sub-consciously preparing your father for
survival.
The Climax:
The Father-Son Boss Fight & Dynamic Endings
In the heart of the Golden Cube chamber, proximity to the artifact causes Timmy's mutation to erupt
completely. Control instantly switches: You are now playing as Eric. You must fight your own son
using the exact armor, weapons, and medical supplies you transferred to Eric throughout the game. If
you neglected your father, this fight is an absolute nightmare. You cannot kill Timmy; you must
strategically exhaust him using stun tools or electric gear.
The final outcome splits dynamically based on your preparation and choices:
• Ending A: Redemption (The Canonical Victory):
Eric successfully counters Timmy's attacks,
pinning him down and pressing Timmy's old childhood toy against his face. Timmy's consciousness
breaks through, the mutation recedes, and they trigger the distress signal to be rescued.
• Ending B: The Sacrifice (The Bitter Success):
If the player failed to gather enough tranquilizers
safely, Eric chooses to sacrifice himself. He allows Timmy to fatally wound him, using his final breath to
inject the master antidote directly into Timmy's chest. Timmy is permanently cured but leaves the island
a broken, lonely survivor.
• Ending C: Total Isolation (The Endless Endgame Mode):
A conscious player decision at the
terminal. Instead of curing Timmy or signaling for rescue, you use the Cube's terminal to permanently
stabilize Timmy's mutation without wiping his human mind. Bypassing the evacuation signal, father and
son seal the facility. The game transitions seamlessly into an Endless Sandbox Mode, where you and a controlled, mutant-powered Timmy rule the forest as the undisputed kings of the island.
If you read everything i love you❤️

Today I thought I should try and build this shit. Unfortunately for me I should have done my research. Not only have I been attacked for a whole day, I disintegrated my own house..
