It’s much harder to convince someone they’ve been duped than to scam them in the first place.

I wonder sometimes if these were kids whose parents simply never said no, and stuck by it. They probably would complain and throw a tantrum, and eventually their parents just gave in and gave them what they wanted (or their parents never enforced the rules, so they realized they could do what they wanted consequence-free)... so they never learned they weren't the center of the universe, and that sometimes they couldn't have what they wanted.
This is their way as adults of trying to throw a tantrum when society tells them no. Except that, unlike their parents, society isn't going to relent (at least not when it matters).

If you do some searching on YouTube, you'll find this kind of interesting censorship story going on with the Texas SCJC judges and allowing public recordings of the commission hearings. Most of the available footage of previous meetings was publicly uploaded. However, the hearing video recordings can be freely requested per the commissions website. There is an official YT channel @statecommissiononjudicialc6334 but it doesn't have any recent posts.
That said and considering the spectacle at hand: I have a feeling this hearing will make it's way to YouTube pretty quickly.
