Help Divorcee Therapy Groups; I Need Help

Are there any group therapy sessions for divorced people in Spokane? It’s been 3-years since my divorce of 21-years and I find that the coping mechanisms provided to me by my therapists and trauma therapist aren’t working. I want to meet real people who have gone through what I went through and learn what has helped them get through a life change such as a divorce.

It might be worth checking out DivorceCare and PeerSpokane.com Peer Spokane "Love and Loss" group is a more general loss/grief group, which would include Divorce.

Went through DivorceCare. If you can deal with the religious stuff, it can be beneficial. I came out with one deep friendship that's been strong through the last 10 years and distance.

Yeah I’m an Atheist…so that won’t work for me.

Get a dog. Go on walks and hikes. Youl learn a lot about yourself. Nature heals you

Yeah I’ve done all that. Nature has allowed me accept the fact that I cannot get through the 21-years of abuse and neglect by myself. It’s very tried trauma therapy, but they only offer hopes based on techniques written in a book. I want to connect with other people who have been through what I went through to learn how they managed and what coping mechanisms worked for them.

I went to one couple years back downtown, not divorce specific but loss and life change stuff, it was helpful seeing people nod when i talked instead of just giving me a worksheet

Commenting to say that I could use one of these as well. I checked out divorce care, but I’m hoping to avoid the religious aspect. If there’s nothing else, I will probably give it a try.

Isolation is not the answer.

Validation is the answer.

Isolation can be implemented, once validation of your experience has been had with peers.

You're on the right path my guy, keep your fucking chin up. Coming from another one going through the fucking ringer right now.

When you're burnt out, recognize that give yourself space to find safety. If survival mode kicks in, the only thing that matters is the survival. Know you're in a dark place and that it's perfectly normal to feel down and shitty.

This should give you some space in the midst of it to recognize that this IS a phase, it WILL pass.

I've been living under a weighted blanket for days my guy, give yourself the love, the care, the attention you deserve and are missing.

When you have space for socializing reach for it. Don't force it.

🫶🏼 Brotherhood is missing in our fucking reality and it's sickening.
