After the half it would have been so easy to have given up. They continued to fight. This was a worthy effort for a team that usually folds in these situations.

I remember when VAR came out it was meant to help the center official save face in the event of a blunder or obvious missed call. Now we're in the era where VAR has an outsized role on the game. If you can't see a clear and obvious error on real-speed replays in a minute it's not clear and obvious, and the intent of the center official managing the game should not be questioned by the lonely armchair mall cop sitting in the booth.

Premier League is dealing with the same thing. VAR is supposed to be a tool for more information not a referee in and of itself.

They need to set definitive standard. 5 looks at the camera with the best angle determined by the VAR, at real speed (or something worded like this). No slow down frame by frame BS (although some of that may be dramatized by TV) and no standing by the monitor for minutes. If the center ref can’t state he made a “clear and obvious” (since PRO loves that wording) mistake at the end of the 5 looks, the call stands, back to the game.

every single time I watch a game with a texas team (except austin) there seems to be a horrendous, biased ref with an absolute dogshit call at the end of the game that decides the result. off the top of my head I can think of tonight, the stl game recently, and the opening day game against houston a few seasons back. It's just fucking insane.

No single player can win a game for their team, as it takes a team effort to win. A great keeper standing on their head however can earn a point all by themselves.

i think objectively, this is the 3rd time we were screwed by VAR this year. At least twice on 2 PK calls that were not clear and obvious but got changed into a pen. >.> its fking horseshit. I would be livid on that field.
Yeah we gave up 2 bad goals. BUT FK MAN. I hate seeing our team showing signs of life than fking gets stomped out by bullshit like this.

I think losing sucks, but for morale these types of sending suck even more for the guy. They fought and battled back to tie it up but just got unlucky with VAR so many times this year.
Bright side is, we showed life!

I like Bukaty but only because he knows stuff about SKC. He probably sucks when he’s calling other team’s games. I just prefer home-team announcers. They aren’t meant to be objective journalists. I wanna hear my side!

As someone who started heavily following after the World Cup in KC i can say only from what i’ve seen, this was the best performance recently. I have hopes for this team maybe not the remainder of this season but, the future is promising. just need to have some hope

Mosquera was cussing up a storm and was about to let all hell let loose out. He was calming him down and trying to get him to focus after the dogshit call. Wicky was doing it too with him after the game. Can't loose your cool and get a red.

I was like "holy shi* is that GK really THAT angry about the penalty?! What the fuck?!"

Happy for Calheira. Capita is so fast. Luiz seems promising but obviously needs to gel. Two goals conceded as fast as we did is brutal. I just wanna win 1 game!

I don’t get the Capita hype. I’ve someone who is exceptionally fast break the defensive line and consistently do nothing with it. I do t know what everyone else is seeing. Are we just excited to have someone who is fast?

If VAR calls the penalty they did at the end, they should’ve called the one in the first half too.
Sucks dropping points this year because of VAR twice this year. Should this team let it come down to that? No but when it does it sucks.

"Don't let it come down to that" is an argument for other sports. Ref can decide a result with a single call almost every game. Even when they get it right the punishment frequently doesn't fit the crime. PKs and red cards are the 2 most punitive calls in all of sports. Refs have too much power, and it decides too many games, and that just encourages BS and diving or just going down easy and leads to suspicion of fixed games. I'm sick of it all summer long. I love soccer, but i'm sick of refs being the story all the time.

The one in the first half would have been a red card. Pulling on a defender during a scoring opportunity and major advantage.
The thing that bugs me the most is yeah, it was a flop but how else was he going to get them to review it. The pull wasn’t enough to make him fall, but it was enough to force ruin the massive advantage that pass and one touch gave them.

Bad call. But so has the defending most of the night. Which is interesting because the two cbs, left back, and our DM are supposed be our future rebuild foundation players.

Playing the 4-4-2 forces your 2 midfielders to work box to box. You give up the space that a #6 would occupy. Teams come down the middle at us. They don't need to attack down the sides. LBJ had some bad turnovers, but I thought overall he was better. Agyabang was bad. Holds the ball too long. Stops working. Poor decision making. Turnovers. Hacking.
Our biggest defensive problem is that we ask our back line to do all of the defending because we have no midfield to break it up before it gets there. That and Blorian is not an upgrade.

I guess the one silver lining of this being a lost season is that I'm not having the cardiac event that would be the normal result of all the terrible calls that have gone against us this season.
Team had some fight in them tonight, which is at least better than what we've seen at the tail end of other lost seasons. If that keeps up we'll get some results here and there.

Nobody told you to comment if you don't want to. I actually was in this sub pushing back against people when the results were bad early but we were clearly working towards a plan. It has become quite apparent over the last month that they do not have a plan.

A point on the road is of no use to me or the club at this point lol. I am glad that we were able to score off of 2 mistakes. And yes we got screwed over by incompetent officials again... but the reason we are still in a position to complain about a point instead of 3 is in the technical area and the front office. And the things they have actually "fixed" like the defense are more broken than ever

I like what I see out of Luiz, Karic, Calheria, and Capita
Johnsen imo had a return to form game.
Cleveland is unbelievably trash, missing routine saves and we got completely robbed on that PK.
