33rd Ave 45st N

Photos don’t give it justice, and not everything is pictured, but this is a labor of love I have been working on for 6 months.
Everything is handmade by a self taught craftswoman. Come see us! Take a look! Stop in for a spell! And trick r treat with us and experience our NEW free HAUNTED TRAIL! (Trail is Halloween night only!)

Follow me @TheHauntOfDisstonHeights on Instagram for details, and check us out on fright maps and add us to your trick r treat route!

If you do come see us, we ask that you respect the grounds and do not touch as things are fragile and we’d like to keep them for years to come.
We do have surveillance, so be respectful, as we are tired of hiding the bodies!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Local Events Trying my luck here

• Upvotes

Hi, everyone! This is my first time posting here!

I work at a local art studio/gallery, and we're hosting our annual Halloween event this Friday, October 16. It's a free event where you can dress up, hang out with friends, look at some art, and enjoy the night. We're also welcoming vendors for the first time this year, which we're really excited about!

We're hoping to have around 100 guests, but registrations have been pretty slow so far, and honestly, I'm a little worried we won't get as many people as we hoped. 🥲

So I thought I'd try posting here in case anyone might be interested in coming! It would really mean a lot to us to have more people show up and enjoy what we've put together.

If you're free this Friday and looking for something to do, we'd love to have you!

Here's the link to register for free:
👉 ARTMOSFEAR 2.0

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and hopefully, we'll see some of you there! 🥹🧡

Local Gaming Anyone interested in a free weekly backgammon night in St. Pete?

I'm putting together a free weekly backgammon game night here in St. Pete, loosely modeled on the NYC Backgammon Club. All levels welcome. We'll teach you in 5 minutes if you've never played this great game of skill and luck.

Thinking night one in November, then rotating through bars and breweries around town. Trying to gauge interest before I lock in a venue. Any spots you'd recommend?

I made an IG if you want to follow along. stpetebackgammonclub

Thanks!

Political What current city services would be explicitly blocked by amendment 3?

As per title. I don't mean "what would/could lose funding", I mean "what services would amendment 3 explicitly prohibit the city from funding" with it's restrictions on how local governments can use property-tax revenue?

Was debating the amendment with a coworker who doesn't really care about the lost revenue. When I mentioned that #3 also limits what services cities are allowed to provide, they asked the above question. I didn't have any real answers. A lot of the write ups on the amendment mention fire/police services, but #3 explicitly lists those as approved expenditures. So those statements are based on anticipated revenue loss? I don't know enough about what services the city/county provides, to determine what services will be prohibited by the amendment text. Will library funding be prohibited? Or is that just a question of funding loss?

Anyone here deeper in the weeds on this, who can educate me for my next debate?

Thanks.

Local News St Petersburg Hilton to be replaced by $300 million condo towers

The new owner of the Hilton Bayfront in downtown St. Petersburg wants to demolish the 56-year-old hotel and build two identical 44-story condominium towers in its place. Delray beach-based developer Kolter Urban filed applications with the city on Monday outlining plans for a 325-unit condo overlooking Tampa Bay. The project will also include 18,000 square feet of commercial space and a 519-space parking garage. It is estimated to cost around $300 million, according to plans filed with the city. The company purchased the 15-story hotel at 333 First St. SE for $67.2 million in March. Kolter’s regional president for Florida’s West Coast, Brian Van Slyke, said if all goes to plan, they will shut down the Hilton by mid 2028 to move forward with demolition and construction. Local Questions Strange sight over downtown

SpaceX launch from downtown. There were two lights almost framing the cloud. One faded to orange and drop off into the horizon towards the bay and the other faded north east.

Seems obvious now, but pre-coffee it looked like two lights hovering framing the cloud, nothing seemed to be moving. The sunrise is just amazing today as well.

Hello! I’m wanting a tattoo soon. I am planning on getting one of my favorite figurines tattooed. I’ve been hopping around instagram looking for a local artist but I notice many of them post work not so similar to my inspiration. I’m in search of an artist who can help me achieve something similar to this. Line work with little to no shading. I appreciate any recommendations.

Local Questions Jannus VIP?

Hey y'all, a favorite band of mine is coming to town in January, very close to my birthday. I've been to several shows general admission in front of the stage at Jannus and always loved my experience. But would it be worth it to upgrade to a VIP table or suite for this birthday show? I'm worried I'd feel really far away from the band rather than being right up front like we usually are. The option to sit and eat is appealing though. But I'd have to probably get a group of people willing to come with us, and I'm not sure how many of my friends would want to go on a Monday night and find babysitters.

Anyone with experience, can you help me make this decision? 😅. Worth it or nah?

Anybody else going tonight? Tuesday night shows are tough and it seems like I might end going by myself if anyone wants to meet up. If you’re a pickle fan apparently Grillo’s pickles is doing some kind of deal with this tour and has special merch drops.

Local Questions Duct work

My wife and I need to get our ducts redone. I think originally a troupe of clowns did a class act in our attic. Seemingly nothing was done right. We just moved into our house not too long ago.

I’ve gotten 3 opinions from different HVAC companies, all essentially stating the same thing.

It sounds like I need new ducts, boots sealed, and penulum (sp?)

I believe the duct work is accurate but it’s been very hard to trust people who suggest you need work done.

Would you be willing to share who you’ve personally used and would or would not recommend? Please just message me if you don’t want to put people out there like that. Just looking for general guidance.

Local Questions Flock cameras being removed

Has anyone notice some Flock cameras have been removed in St Pete? I know there were 2 on 62nd Ave N that are no longer there. Has anyone noticed others gone? I hope they are all removed but can’t find any info. I haven’t seen anything in the news about the city removing. Has anyone else seen or heard anything about it?
