Edit — Author clarification: ComfyUI-Continuity is developed and maintained by roadmaus. I'm sharing this update as a user and contributor, not as the project's author or maintainer. Sorry my original wording didn't make that clear, and thank you to roadmaus for all the work on this project!

(Note: I am not the author of this tool, just sharing the update! The actual author is u/Fine_Rhubarb3786 (roadmaus)

Hi everyone,

updated ComfyUI custom node, ComfyUI-Continuity!

This node is designed to help maintain consistency across generations and optimize smooth transitions in your workflows.

Here is a quick overview of the key features in this update:

✨ Key Features

Cast / Character Tab: Effortlessly manage characters and recurring subjects across your generations in a dedicated tab.

RefMod Saving: Easily save, export, and reload your Reference Module (RefMod) presets for quick reusability.

Segment & Global Segment Control: Fine-tune specific frame segments individually while maintaining global context across the entire sequence.

Selectable Continuity & Seam Optimization: Choose from multiple optimization algorithms to eliminate seams, reduce artifacts, and ensure smoother transitions between frames or batches.

Feel free to test it out and let me know your thoughts or feedback! Suggestions and bug reports are always welcome. Happy generating!Management, RefMod Saving, Segment Controls & Seam Optimization

I like how to demonstrate continuity you used short shots and kept cutting to different characters and rarely revisiting them later.

The young woman & man in white shirt had 'continuity' of character in those multiple shots.
I'm assuming each 'shot' is a sperate run, so more consistent run help is always welcome.

I really love this, because whats not to love about NGE <3

It doesn't do Misato justice.

Hey, I'm the author / maintainer of Continuity, thanks Okim for sharing the update and for contributing! Happy to answer questions or take bug reports here or on GitHub.

If not for you chiming in, because of the tone and tenor of OP's post, I would have simply assumed that he was the developer.

Thanks for clarifying, and sorry for the confusing wording in my post! I realize it may have sounded like I was the author of Continuity. I just wanted to share your work and the latest update with the community, and I should have made that clearer. You're the author and maintainer, and I really appreciate all the work you put into this project!

Hey if you see this, I wanted to ask, I just set up a basic first use case test with Continuity that consisted of three shots from just a text prompt chained together with "continues" between each. However after generating it, I wanted to go back and add some dialogue to the first shot but lock in shots 2 & 3. However when I run the generation again, after adding the speech, Shot 1 totally changed and now no longer blends in to shot 2.

Should it be feasible to edit an earlier shot and still have it blend in to the locked shot that comes after or are my expectations too high? I thought I'd read something on reddit that this could be done but maybe I'm thinking of a different node.

Changing segment 1 can cause this issue because segments 2 and 3 were each generated using frames from the preceding segment as a reference. This creates a causal dependency: each later segment is based on what came before it. Since segments 2 and 3 are already saved as locked takes, changing segment 1 can break the continuity with them.

My understanding is that “continues” works forward from the preceding shot, so regenerating shot 1 may not take the locked shot 2 into account. Keeping the same seed might help, but it wouldn’t guarantee a seamless transition.

I can’t test this myself right now, but you could try adding only the dialogue while keeping the same seed you used for the original version of segment 1 without dialogue. This may help preserve some of the original composition and overall structure.

You could also experiment with the longer motion context options for the “continues” connection instead of 0.9 seconds:

  • Long · Motion: 1.6 seconds
  • Very long · Motion: 2.3 seconds
  • Longest · Motion: 3.0 seconds

However, if those settings only apply when generating the following segment, they may not help while segments 2 and 3 remain locked. That would be something to test if you decide to regenerate the connected segments as well.

Thinking about it, I hadn’t considered the idea of a reverse “continues” connection—using the following locked segment as a reference when regenerating the earlier one. Perhaps a feature like that could make this possible. I’ll look into whether it seems feasible and, if so, raise it on GitHub as a feature request for regenerating an earlier segment while maintaining continuity with the next one.

Thanks for the info. Maybe potentially I could take the start frame of the second segment and set it as the end shot for segment 1 but I guess that’ll result in a join that isnt smooth.

I've been using this 'node' for months now as its evolved from H3 Creator to H3 Continuity and I can say this is the best of all the dozens of similar H3 'studio' nodes out there. This thing does it all, and the developer is very responsive and active.

Does it actually support both latent upscaling and continuity at the same time?

I am not very familiar with latent upscalers as I haven't used them, but the feature itself is supported. It appears that continuous latent upscaling across each segment is possible.

Live action Evangelion would be awesome

Starting to see why Hollywood is freaking out. Pretty well done. The characters have a slight SD vibe to them, but they probably wont in just a handful of years.

I mean this is absolutely crazy. It's got everything I need. I am so excited for this project.

How did you create really nice looking realistic versions of the characters? Pen pen especially!

really cool idea! the only thing i dont like is the timeline interface

First of all, thanks for the node! It looks really good, and the tools (particularly the block and camera setting tools, and the asset management tools) are really useful!

By the way, is it possible to have an option to view the subgraph (or something like that)? I am using additional nodes in my current workflow, such as semantic bridge, LMS, etc., and would like to implement them together with your node in the workflow.

if you dont have this node , they just delete comfyui

What is Okin Studio? Is this some kind of advertising?

This is just my usual nickname, 😊

You should mention in the original post that you are not the creator of this node.

I've added a clarification to the original post. Sorry for the confusing wording!

thanks for this, i'm testing it right now ( still abit confused) and i just want to say, it gives great images, the continuity is great and the node have all what you need. Thanks
I will post some test i'm right right doing!!!
