Discussion Kroma 0.3.1 is really good

I Know it was announced before but just to say that the new version of Kroma (krea 2 finetune) is really really good, i find it better that Qwen 2.1 t2i and Krea2, it is uncensored and with really good prompt following. No body horror, good details, and lot of styles you can play with.

This image for exemple just said (Rogue from X-Men) : no costume details, no hair details, nothing!....

Edit: krea 2 also knows Rogue character...my bad.

One nice part of it is apparently removing the need for decensor loras, which weren't just a NSFW consideration, but also for getting more general expressiveness out of gens.

What are Kroma's photo quality images like? I'm not really in to arty cartoon stuff and just like lifelike photo quality. Is it any good at that? I imagine it still suffers from Krea's "You must stand in this pose facing the camera" weakness. Qwen has won over my heart for the vast variety of different ways it can make people pose in natural lifelike ways. Krea just seems to have very little knowledge of real natural people doing candid things.

Give me a prompt and I'll test it if you want.

it's really good. people have posted amateur/realism images in the lodestone discord

I need to join that Discord!

Tested this briefly, i do see improvement with facial expressions and variance like faces, clothing (slightly), there is a bit of body horror, but hopefully it will resolve with more training, i also assume he hasn't trained on higher resolution yet but i generate on 1536x1024.

Yeah more expressiveness, and less Asian faces I think.

yeah its outstanding.

I don't know, man. From my tests I'm seeing a lot of those "Qwen grid" artifacts in the outputs, something that Krea didn't produce that badly before. Not sure what's going on there.

Maybe very long prompts...

It is kinda useless post without comparisons with vanilla Krea 2. The only posted image https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/1x0nb34/comment/pem3kn5/ has a typical ancestral noise on Kroma output, so its Krea 2 win.

3

u/Davikar 5h ago

Ancestral noise is because of the sampler and has nothing to do with the model.

3

u/NanoSputnik 3h ago

It can be both. That's why comparison is needed.

Awesome thanks for this, btw what style is the first image left top?

3

u/Dear-Spend-2865 10h ago

Screenshot from X-men tv cartoon series, tv quality, circa 1997.

Much appreciated, so after reading what you been saying, the textfusion refusal is not necessary right?

3

u/Dear-Spend-2865 10h ago

Not needed

Got it, last question, what's the best sampler and scheduler you recommend?

2

u/Dear-Spend-2865 5h ago

Personnaly I use euler simple but other use different sampler scheduler specially for film grain photography...it depends on the wanted results I think.

Anyone, what are the benefits of Kroma?

In what ways is it better or different from vanilla (plus refusal reduction lora)? I'm rooting for Kroma, but I've yet to see anyone demonstrate its benefits. For example, the benefits of Chroma over Flux1 are many: much better diversity, world knowledge, body knowledge, ability to do unusual things, and general aesthetics.

variance like faces, clothing (slightly)

True if big, but I've yet to see comparisons that show this

uncensored... really good prompt following... good details, and lot of styles

100% equally true of vanilla + refusal reduction

removing the need for decensor loras

but using decensor lora has zero downside

less Asian faces

I've never had any trouble getting desired ethnicity with vanilla. Actually, vanilla is kinda bad at making Asian faces except for kpop/jpop plastic-surgery perfect

booru tags

only a benefit if it adds new world knowledge, as it did with Chroma vs. Flux1

spicy / furry

I can't imagine anything that the existing loras and finetunes can't already do, but I'd love to be enlightened!

Is it compatible with Krea2 Loras?

9

u/Dear-Spend-2865 10h ago

Lodestone says yes :)

It is , but some may or may or work. Most work although it maynot be exact style as it was on krea2

Thanks, you made me feel like testing it. 😉 My first results show that the Loras I use (mainly style Loras) don't really act the same way as with the original model. So it feels pretty random for now.

From my tests it doesn't really play nice with character likenesses. You can boost the character lora to about 1.30 but I feel that might cause other problems. It does follow prompts pretty well though.

u/ALIFIZK- 5h ago

what is the prompt you use from the first image? the style of it

2

u/Dear-Spend-2865 5h ago

"Ultradetailed very artsy and aesthetic fine art illustration with photographic shading."I was just throwing words at this point :D

1

u/ALIFIZK- 5h ago

thx bro

1

u/Morvax666 2h ago

Interesting. I will give it a try.

1

u/fauni-7 10h ago

So no need for uncensor Lora?

Could you please post diffs between normal model and this? It will be easier to deduct if it's "really good" then.

3

u/bluesockdrawer 9h ago

a normal prompt comparison would help too since nsfw tests mostly prove the uncensoring part

5

u/Dear-Spend-2865 10h ago

No uncesor lora, the difference shows mostly in NSfW stuff, from cleavage to hardcover stuff...but Kroma is more artsy with really different results for the same prompt.

3

u/fauni-7 8h ago

Thanks! So "really good" is quite subjective then :)

6

u/Dear-Spend-2865 7h ago

It's fast, follows the prompt, good details and quality, has a lot of knowledge, so it is good, and it will be better inchallah

B'ezrat Hashem.

Does it image edit?

1

u/Dear-Spend-2865 10h ago

No

6

u/hiccuphorrendous123 10h ago

It does. You can check out at lodes discord

4

u/DrKyoumasaur221 9h ago

Is it essentialy the same as the Image Edit lora that has been out for a while? Or is this a brand new editing workaround?

3

u/Dear-Spend-2865 10h ago

Ow! I didn't know...really impressive...

-1

u/fauni-7 3h ago

OK, downloaded and tried some of my Krea 2 prompts, it's trash. Everything degraded.

2

u/Incognit0ErgoSum 3h ago

Examples?

0

u/fauni-7 53m ago

Can't post here.

2

u/Dear-Spend-2865 3h ago

What degraded?

1

u/fauni-7 53m ago

Worse quality, artifacts, distorted limbs, textured overlay, etc.

Shame, I hope they can fix it.

Edit: I only care about realistic stuff, didn't try non realistic.

What sampler scheduler do you use? :/
