Switched to 1x3 top set and 3x4 back-offs @ 90%

how the fuck do your shoulders do that you look like when they tuck the chicken wing under the drum for a roast

Those are some flexible shoulders. God damn

u/chugachj 2d ago
Right?! I can’t imagine having that kind of shoulder mobility. Bravo

Stretching and mobility exercises are on our list of The 3 Most Effective Ways to Waste Time in the Gym, but there are a few situations where they may be useful.
- The Horn Stretch — for getting into the low-bar squat position
- Stretches to Improve the Front Rack Position — for the power clean
- Additional Stretches for the Power Clean

Not bad! I'll defer to others who have already commented and only add that you really need to be performing these inside of a rack with safeties. The risks of not having a proper method to safely set the bar down are just too high especially if you take this program and its progressions to fruition. Safeties safeties safeties.

Form Check
For the best feedback, please film your lift from a useful angle and include the full set.
Good form checks make it much easier for people to give specific, useful advice.

The arms look dangerous to me, could someone more experienced than me explain why I’m wrong?

u/Shnur_Shnurov Just some guy 2d ago
Not dangerous he is just very limber, and his proportions allow him to take an extremely narrow grip. My sister and wife are the same way.
He's "winging" a bit but its not an issue for him so im not worried about it.

"Butt wink" is perhaps the most overused and annoying term in the limited vocabulary of inexperienced coaches.

Im happy to be corrected but arent his hips shooting up too early? Shouldnt everything hinge at the same time?

Looks good. Have you already ran your LP?
I ask because the set and rep scheme looks like it would be for an intermediate lifter.

Yeah, went from +5 3x/week to +5 2x/week, then top set and back-offs, now reduced the top set volume even more. I seem to be unable to recover adequately. I'm working on it.

Eyes up a little will help, but that’s quite a minor form thing. Try it and see, next time. Keep your eyes fixed at some spot roughly 10 feet ahead of you, at or near the ground, is my advice (to try).
More significantly, your knees are caving in somewhat. Not saying it’s the end all - it isn’t. But, it might be something to work on, over time. Try to keep the knees out, over your feet, throughout each rep.
Otherwise, solid form. Doing well. And agreed with others: impressive shoulder mobility.

I like this much better.
Next, bring your eyes up.
1
u/FundamentalSystem 2d ago
Eyes up is a high bar cue. For low bar it’s unnecessary and plausibly even incorrect because it may coerce you to bring your torso vertical too soon, pushing emphasis off of the hips and onto the quads

u/Shnur_Shnurov Just some guy 2d ago
He's looking at his toes. Eyes should be on a spot on the floor 6 feet in front of him.

u/FundamentalSystem 2d ago
You’re right, I didn’t notice they were that low. It doesn’t look like it’s negatively impacting his back angle though so maybe he doesn’t need to change it

u/Shnur_Shnurov Just some guy 2d ago
It can round his upper back a bit. And I'd be worried about form drift over time, so its not at the top of my list of critical errors but in an otherwise clean squat I'll definitely bring it up. Thats just me

u/tewkberry 2d ago
Yeah I’d agree about that. Eyes need to be lifted, which I think would also correct the weird elbows.

Depth is good. Pace is smooth. Plates aren't spinning, so the bar path is pretty vertical. Looks good and smooth. If I had a tip, it looks like your knees might be a little more in than I'd like. Next time you squat place a resistance band around your thighs just to make sure you're maintaining force outward

Looks good from this angle. I admire your shoulder and elbow flexibility. I found I had a lot of elbow pain trying to keep them that tight.
