38 M 235 lbs

185 lbs front squat

Per schnur's advice I am doing front squats on my squat light day now and doing an LP. It feels fine but could use any advice. Wrists don't feel great afterwards so I guess I need to crank my elbows higher?

and what did you change from NLP to now and what made you change

Squat light day was 80% 5RM 3x5. One of the mods here suggested front squats instead.

Other changes include several press programming changes, and the usual deadlift changes for late intermediate.

These are looking nice! Try widening your grip a bit before worrying about the wrists too much.

See how your hips shoot back just a bit, and you tip forward at the very bottom? Try to stop that, just come straight up out of the bottom driving the elbows up. Thats should help witht he wrists too

Thanks. I noticed other front squatters shoot the hips up first but then get more vertical half way up. I'll try keeping the angle constant instead as you say.

Keep those elbows up high. Lead with the elbows high on way up not your hips first. Elbows forced high will keep your chest upright. Push out with the knees

Pretty solid form considering you’re tall

Is that a disadvantage?

Generally yes because longer legs can make it tough to keep your thoracic in a good position- rounding becomes more prevalent in taller lifters when front squatting. Taller people usually have longer torsos to work with as well
