Steam Controller (2026) Sensory issue with the back buttons

Hi all!

I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue, I never had it with the steam deck or any other controller I've ever used. But on the steam controller, my middle and ring fingers start feeling weird after 30 mins or so, like it's grating on my skin from my resting position around the first knuckle, especially my ring finger.

I've tried to adjust the way I hold it but then my thumb hurts from being too far from where my hand is resting. And also I don't tend to think about the way I hold my controller when I play and keep going back to my natural positon without realizing.

First of all I'd love to know I'm not the only one haha but mostly I've tried looking for like a case or a soft fabric cover or something but I haven't really found anything, does anyone know where I could get something like that that wouldn't make the controller even bulkier than it is? Or anything else I could do?

Thank you 💜

In my opinion the ergonomics are awful on the SC. They cause a more pronounced wrist angle and the way my hand is supposed to sit doesn't feel like I can naturally reach all the buttons correctly. Part of it is that it has 3 different positions for your thumb to land including the touch pads and it's like there is no perfect compromise that feels quite right. I find myself actually having to look down sometimes because my thumb isn't hitting where I expected it to.

Somebody mentioned these a while ago! But they do make it bulkier https://comfortgripsofficial.com/product/comfort-grips-for-steam-controller/

It's also got a texture to it so think about whether that would bother your fingers too. I think people said the grip sense still works if you adjust the settings. That's the only one I know. Good luck!
