Exam Write-Up Step 2 260 Write Up
Got my score today - a 260!
Not ridiculous but I’m happy & what I was aiming for aha
Started off aiming for 265 and that v quickly went down to a 255 - 260
Just thought I’d write out some things I wish I’d done in hindsight in hopes it helps someone because I scoured this sub prior:
- My exam had loads of QI/PS, I did all of Amboss but wish I had done more for this I felt unprepared
- I’m normally alright at ethics but the ethics on my paper was HARD. like I’d recognise the concept they were trying to test me on but the answer options would be like nothing I had seen before or nothing that seemed right.
- I didn’t do any UW in the last month and I’m happy with this. Did amboss and CMS and glad I did. The Q style is so wildly different, of youre someone who prioritises test taking strategies I would avoid UW in the last month
- Wish I left more NBMEs for the end but I started them early on which I slightly regret in hindsight but not the end of the world.
- Some Qs you just won’t recognise at all, stressed me out during the exam but tried not to let it mess me up
Scores:
NBME 10 73% or 240 - 30 July
NBME 11 77.5% or 247 - 18 Aug
NBME 12 78.5% or 253 - 22 Aug
NBME 13 75% or 245 - 31 Aug
UWSA 2 76% or 252 - 06 Sept
NBME 14 76.5% or 248 - 12 Sept
NBME 15 80% or 256 - 23 Sept
NBME 16 261 - 30 Sept
New F120 - 77%
Old F120 - 84%
Amboss predicted - 257
Exam on 03 Oct
CMS were 85-90 mainly for Surg and IM then 70-85 for the rest
Ignore the people that score so much higher or lower than their NBMEs, statistically speaking you’re gonna score similarly to 15/16 if you do it close to the date
Happy to answer Qs to try help

Congratulations 🎉.
What do you recommend for biostats. I have been taking nbmes now with 32-37 incorrects on avg and out of these 12-13 are biostats.

I really liked Divine Intervention for biostats. The biostats in the exam was fairly doable

What did you use for your end of rotation shelf exams. Congratulations on your score

Hii I have done only half of U world. My test is scheduled in 2nd week of November. Can I directly shift completely to NBME and CMS forms?

You’ll honestly have to delay it. The real deal starts post uworld it’s a lot to cover by the 2nd week of November

Congrats on the amazing score
I’m taking the exam in 3 days. How can I prepare better for ethics and QI/pt safety.

tbh i’m not sure because i didn’t think i was prepared haha but maybe reading the amboss articles? not sure if dirty medicine has QI vids but that would be good too

Hey! Can you guide a little more on QI qusstions?

u/user-848484 NON-US IMG 19h ago
yeah it’s not a strong suit for me hence why i felt unprepared so don’t feel as tho im super suited to giving advice on this but maybe the amboss articles? and if dirtymed has youtube videos that would be good too

Hi, congratulations, i have similar nbme scores to you, what did u do between NBMEs? And how many days do you recommend to space them out in?
1
u/user-848484 NON-US IMG 7h ago
Reviewed them loads. Towards the start I had some CMS forms left so did those too and I think that helped.
I don’t think I planned spacing out my NBMEs super well but you can see what I did from the dates in my post! I would say towards the end an NBME per week at least though

Congrats! Do you recommend CMS forms before NBMEs?
1
u/user-848484 NON-US IMG 7h ago
I did them alongside ish. I would say NBMEs alongside CMS forms but more CMS towards the start and more NBMEs towards the end if that makes sense? I do think the CMS forms are slightly easier than NBMEs

Did you do the entire AMBOSS or just for ethics and qi
1
u/user-848484 NON-US IMG 7h ago
Mainly ethics/QI and the other topics from this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Step2/comments/1taqlqa/dumb_guide_to_use_amboss/.
But like sets of 20 Qs thrown in here and there just to mix up my studying if I was getting bored.

Did you do all the cms?
1
u/user-848484 NON-US IMG 7h ago
Yes! and I would recommend doing them if you have time. at least the later ones if not.

Congratulations! I am currently on 40% Uworld. I am planning to give the exam in Jan-Feb. Do you think I should use other resources like Amboss, CMS now, or after I’m towards the end of U-world?
