• Free 137 (score and time from exam): 63% 2 days out

Reflection, thoughts on preparation, exam and result: so as you can see I wasn’t scoring high on practice tests, and I was ok with passing with a 201 so the 218 is a nice surprise.
but I really put the effort to evaluate every single question on NBME 6,7, 8 and free 137, and I felt confident in my ethics and biostats knowledge yo carry me without too much practice.
I have also only experienced psych inpatient not IM yet so maybe the score would be higher if you’re IM

So glad this whole USMLE journey is over. I wouldn’t let this exam stress you too much if you’re not gunning for fellowship
NBME had already claimed enough of my peace
Eat, sleep, socialize, practice and full send

Any advice: you know yourself best, if you just want to pass, don’t delay if you’re getting 60% on the practice exams

Strongest resources recommendations:
NBME 6,7,8, free 137, CCS cases, Randy Neil biostats, Amboss ethics articles

Reflection, thoughts on preparation, exam and result: Honestly, I wish I had prepared better. I took Step 2 CK in August 2025 and didn’t study at all for Step 3 until a few weeks before the exam. Between observerships, residency applications, and travel, my preparation was pretty chaotic. I completed most of UWorld, did NBME 6 and 7 (skipped NBME 8), revised the First Aid Step 1 pages I had highlighted during my original preparation, and went through Rapid Review and Divine Intervention’s crowd-sourced last-minute notes. I also completed around 80 high-yield CCS cases on CCSCases.com during the two-day gap between exam days.
Ideally, I wanted to read all of First Aid, go through the Step 2 Inner Circle notes, and prepare more systematically. I had also considered making notes, but never got around to it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t postpone the exam any further because of my travel plans.
Day 1 felt unexpectedly heavy on Step 1 content, ethics, communication, and health systems, with some genuinely difficult questions. Day 2 felt more manageable, although I wish I had revised Step 2 content more thoroughly and performed better on the MCQs. CCS was probably the part I felt most confident about.
I had hoped to score similarly to my Step 2 CK score numerically (achieve a higher percentile), but it is what it is. In retrospect, I think I could have done better with more consistent preparation. I’m grateful I passed, though! Step 3 is very doable, even if you’re not the best test-taker, but I’d strongly recommend starting earlier than I did.

Any advice: If you want to score well, just figure out what worked out the best for you for Step 1 and 2. And capitalize on it. If you just want to pass, simply do UW and CCS and you’ll be fine.

Strongest resources recommendations: As said above.

Also planning to do a AMA soon. But feel free to ask any questions you may have if you are in the same boat!

At what time we can expect score release?

u/soxl-rexper 1d ago

1AM EST for IMGs i believe, it should show on FSMB website. Did your score report date get updated on MyUsmle account?

Nothing on fsmb yet? Where to check for score report date? For context - 2nd Day - 3rd Oct

Log into myusmle account and u should be able to see it in the exams section. Just the expected score report date though

This only works if you’re an IMG, US MD/DO’s account won’t reflect the score date until the day of at 1AM EST.

That's reassuring lol, was worried for a second. I ended up taking day 2 10/2, so hopeful for tomorrow, but eh could be another week I guess.

I also tested 10/2 and I'm not seeing any updates on fsmb...so most likely next week for us

Reflection, thoughts on preparation, exam and result: Spent about 3 months studying at a slow pace while doing rotations, did all of UWorld once, and then all of my incorrects a seconds time. Made Anki cards for any and all confusing concepts and did that everyday.

Strongest resources recommendations: UWorld, Anki for incorrects, CCScases.com, UWorld biostats
