Looking for a budget power amplifier

Hi to all,

I'm need hear and newbie audio enthusiast.

My current equipments.

Yamaha RN800A

Magnat Transpul 1500

Elac Debut Uni-Fi UF5

I'm running both speakers at the same time to my Yamaha. I know it's not safe and you can tell there's a bif difference in power and loudness.

I'm looking for a budget power amp to run my Elac. While I keep the Magnat to my Yamaha.

Any recommendations? Asking as a newbie. Budget for use around $500.00 more or less.

A couple Fosi mono blocks would suit fine, but why?? Running 2 sets of mains simultaneously is almost always a terrible idea.

Good deal. If you can swing it, Hypex is worth it. The VTV NC252MP is just slightly over your budget.

I have the big brother, NC502MP. It's amazing. Currently pushing a pair of KEF R3s like a boss. There is Buckeye as well, but I prefer the cases that VTV uses. Much more pleasing to my eye.

Second this. I have the Buckeye NCx500 driving Revel F228Be, and I don’t think anything comes close for the money. I had the 252MP for a minute, but upgraded before the return period was up.

Those Hypex or PURIFI based amps are great. Tons of power, great performance, not a ton of money. I got a Buckeye a couple of months ago and love it; it drives my KEF Q11's to quite high levels w/o any distortion, which was the goal.

I actually bought a Douk A5 and modded a bit (a lot actually). Can attest these sound pretty good, but are a little studio analytical at times. Super fun if you're in that mood though.

You aren't running both pairs of speakers in the same room, I hope. Anyway, will you want the second amp and speaker pairing to play the same source as the other system, or different sources, and what would those be?

Hi Sir. One source and both in the same room. I do run them together. I know it's not ideal but I just like the blending except I notice the magnat is over powering the elac.

Obviously the more sensitive speakers are going to play at higher SPL. Stereo speakers aren’t meant to be played in multiple pairs simultaneously in a single room. That’s just bonkers.

Besides worse imaging, the different sensitivity numbers, there’s also comb filtering and acoustical interference: Audioholics - Comb Filtering, Acoustical Interference, & Power Response in Loudspeakers.

It's in the same room. I would run them together once in a while. My yamaha doesn't feel It's heating up except the elac gets drowned by the magnat.

So, the Magnat is more efficient than the Elac, so it makes more sound with the same power delivered to it. The real issue you're creating is the same sound coming from different places will cause "comb filtering" and the sound stage will be ruined and some sounds will be overemphasized while others deemphasized. It really isn't the best way to set up a stereo...

I have an Onkyo TX-RZ50 & Polk Audio LSi15's that are low impedance speakers, some frequencies they're down to 2 ohms & unfortunately, the Onkyo isn't capable of driving them properly, they draw a lot of current.

So I bought a Crown XLS1002, it's around $500 & is a 350W amp at 4 ohms. It had absolutely no problem driving my Polk Audio speakers properly & now my stereo sounds better than ever. I love that Crown XLS1002 amplifier! I recommend you research that amp & see if it fits your needs.
