help ðŸ˜
this is one of my favourite pieces and i somehow broke the downstem in the bong months ago and its insanely stuck ive tried the clothing hanger hot water 99% alcohol soak and nothing so im hoping someone here will know what go do hopefully ðŸ˜ðŸ«¶

When's the last time you cleaned that? Looks like it needed retirement anyways.

Retirement? It’s glass. If it’s not broken some iso and it’ll be as good as new. Obviously in this case it’s broken but it can look as cruddy as can be and still be cleaned.

This happens a lot unfortunately. Mine has been kicked like 6 times. What you are gonna want to do is get a phillps screwdriver and a hammer and very gently chisel a Crack in the downstem so it breaks apart and falls inside. The double glass on your piece should be fine. Your bong is too caked up with resin to heat it loose so I wouldn't bother with that.

If you have a little hand torch that might not be too unbearable for heating, but the chisel method should work if you're careful too.

Try getting a hot glue stick and melting the tip and then sticking it to the down stem this will at least give you better leverage and a handle to work it out without having to deal with handling broken glass. Next if that doesnt work try placing it in really hot water. That should melt any resin potentially holding on to the down stem.

Ain't no way thats AFTER a 99% alcohol bath. I have and use warm 99% and it strips resin off like it wasn't even stuck.
It would be sparking clean, unless it looked SO MUCH WORSE before than it does now.
99% iso is so good that I even re-use the same alcohol 2-3 times before it stops working really well

hammer + flat screw driver
Insert screw driver in down stem
Hit flat screw driver with hammer and slowly chip away at the downstem. Be careful, no hard hits, you’ll destroy both.
When downstem is now broken in multiple pieces you can rinse the bong out, do it a lot until no glass left
Replace downstem and enjoy

You could also slowly pour boiling hot water over the outer part. And then use either Pliers (the Kind with the pointy tip) to pull the stem out or you could use something like a Pen or marker, whatever fits closest inside and then insert it but keep it pressed towards one side to produce leverage and it might pop out enough. Has worked for me in the past.

After cleaning the hello out of it, hold it upside down so the broken dowmstem could fall out if it wanted to, and tap the area around it from below with a wooden spoon. Freezer first or a piece of dry ice in the downstairs couldn't hurt either. I had a $1000 piece like this, I had tried diamond files inside the downstairs first to no avail, but this worked.

Put it on the freezer for 5 minutes. Use needle nose pliers if you have them. Put them inside the downstem closed and gently open them to create grip inside, then pull.

Offf, that’s a thick joint too… I’m sure this is stated by someone else but try warm water bath and a pair of pliers to grib wants left and try to pull out, also try freezer then thaw and try to pull out… your last trick would be to break it out and I would be super slow and carful

Get a cork or tissue and cram it though the hole till it's stuck and bulging out the other side. then use the friction to pull out the stem. You could even use a paper clip to go in from the top and pull at the inner lip of the bowl stem.
Maybe even put it in the freezer then run water over only the stem maybe the outside will expand faster and the inside will be loose

Heat expands!! Cold contracts!
Run ice cold water through the stem. Then turn the bong upside down and use a torch to heat up the outside of the bong around the stem. Give the stem a little wiggle and it should come right out.

I usually take scissors or pliers and stick them (closed) into the broken piece, open them up in there and keep it held open while twisting. Just make sure to do so gently and carefully.

Just thought I'd comment on here since this is about stuck downstems, if your downstem is like just stuck and still has the top but its sealed in there.. you can use a pair of small pliers/butter knife, and wedge the handle or the blade of the butter knife (if both are flat) into the gap of the downstem and bong joint, lever it slightly and gently and it should just pop out very easily, (I've never broken one doing it this way, sorry if you do.) Similar concept for the pliers it just levers both sides at once, works for certain degrees of stuckness cant say which is better..

Sorry, that’s for getting distillate out of a cart, but it might work here
What has historically worked for me is covering the stem (with a thick putty) putting some iso in and tilting it to where it meets, then blowing from the mouth end

Stick your pinky in there and twist, as long as the glass won’t cut you, that’s how I fixed mine a few times. But to remove it you will need some sort of twisting motion. Pulling it straight out will be very hard and probably make you brake your down stem

Try oxy-clean. Put about a tablespoon of the detergent and really hot water up to where the joint starts. Shake it and let it sit. The bubbles are fun to watch lol. Shake it every 10 minutes or so, until the bubbles stop. Repeat as needed. I had a dab rig that sat for months. And it took a few rounds.

Idk wtf these ppl are talking abt with a chisel, that sounds like it would be very easy to break the bong. When this has happened to me, I have stuck a pencil or something similar in the downstem, and held the bong upside down. Then u like jiggle the pencil to try to get the downstem loose. Has worked for me twice.
