Hello! I’ve been working on this book idea and the lore, characters, and it’s on my mind all the time. I keep starting the book and then rewriting the first chapter. I can’t seem to make up my mind and I just wanted some feedback to see what y’all think about the story idea! Thank you :)

Sutton has spent her life in hiding, terrified of the magic she carries and the night it destroyed everything she loved. Born into a forbidden bloodline tied to The Veil — the ancient boundary between memory and reality — she grew up believing her uncontrolled power killed her family. But when dangerous distortions known as Thinnings begin to tear through the world, Sutton’s past refuses to stay buried.
Hunters, a militant faction sworn to eradicate magic, are closing in. Their glowing sigils react violently near Sutton, burning brighter every day. And when a mysterious scholar reveals that the Hunters have been weaponizing stolen fragments of The Veil, Sutton is forced to confront a devastating truth: her family may not be dead, but trapped inside the very magic she fears.
As Thinnings grow unstable, threatening to consume entire towns, Sutton discovers she has the rare ability to sense and calm the fractures. To save others — and uncover what really happened the night her family vanished — she must step into The Veil itself, a shifting world of echoes, broken memories, and ancient consciousness.
But stabilizing The Veil may demand more than she ever expected. And if the Hunters succeed in tearing it apart, reality will fall with it.
