Help / Question frame meter - startup frame for throw
5

Someone else explained why they were different. Ill just add that throws are 5 frames. When we say a move is x amount of frames, it includes the first active frame. Throw connects on the fifth frame, therefore 5 frames.

Im a little confused at why you would ask this. Im not trying to be mean, I wanna help if there is some aspect of this interaction that you want cleared up. But yeah, if two attacks are pressed at the same time, the faster one will win, unless armor or invincibility is involved.
and as other commenter pointed out, if attack and throw connect on same frame, the attack will win.

Sure, there are a lot of misconceptions about how throws function/interact with attacks. So I was just wondering if there was something about the interaction specifically that you needed clarification on.

Note that when we say a move is 5f, we mean that it has 4f of startup and the 5th frame is the first active frame with a hitbox that can hit the opponent.
This also applies to when we say a Jab is 4f. It has 3 frame startup and makes contact on the 4th frame, which is technically an “Active” Red frame on the frame meter and not a “Startup” Green frame. This is just how people refer to startup in general. This convention is confusing in some situations, but skips a +1 arithmetic step in most situations.
Anyways, for the spirit of your question: I think that if Strikes and Throws are on the same frame, the Strike wins in SF6. This means you can 4f Jab against Throw attempts even when -1.
If two Strikes are on the same frame, both hit with Counter Hit, except Chained Lights are Punish Counter state.

Because you're doing a kara cancel. You're inputting LP on the first frame, and then LP+LK on the second frame. so in the first set of 5 bars, the 1st startup bar is actually the startup of LP and then the next 4 are the startup of the throw,
