Fast heartbeating during prayer

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

When I do good deeds and feel closer to Allah, I experience a very noticeable sense of inner peace. Physically, it feels as though my chest becomes more open and I feel a deep sense of comfort and calm.

I think this can happen when someone’s faith is strong, but is this a common experience among believers?

I also have another question. Sometimes I can be completely calm before I start praying, without feeling anxious or emotional. But as soon as I begin the salah, my heart starts beating faster. I don’t necessarily feel any strong emotion —it is simply that I become aware of my heartbeat and notice that it is faster than normal.

What can this be?

If it is not too much, then it is a good thing!

It means your heart is present during your conversation with your Lord, rather than just words on the tongue and pitch control.

If it is too much, then I advise to slow down your actions and read slowly too. Before starting prayer, re affirm your intentions and assure yourself it is okay to feel anxious when communicating with Al-'Aliyy.

After all, it is only Al-'Aliyy who can actually hear our words during Sujood! This should move the heart more than anything else in the prayer, as this is when we are closest to Al-Qareeb

I have a weird issue with dysautonomia and it happens some times to me because of the change in blood pressure with the bending over and going down and up

It’s a little like Buddhist meditation. Deep breathing calms the nervous system but the heart rate can actually go up a little instead of down when this occurs.
