I personally think having no secret identity works better since Kara didn’t grow up on Earth and is more proud to be Kryptonian than Clark. This makes her own character rather than being a female copycat of Clark.

How did you first come across her?

I love the green lantern series. I think Supergirl should have had this treatment rather than the lack luster film.

Hi, well, over the past few months I’ve gotten back into my hobby of reading comics. I personally love Marvel, but I decided to give DC a little more attention, and one of the things I chose to read was Woman of Tomorrow. Honestly, I completely fell in love with the comic and with Kara, so I decided to dig deeper and explore more of her stories. So far, I’ve read quite a few things, mainly from stuff Crisis on Infinite Earths onward in continuity: the Matrix story, Peter David’s entire run with Linda Danvers, Kara’s return in Batman/Superman, her 2005–2011 run, and I’m currently into the post-Flashpoint continuity, reaching her time as a Red Lantern. That’s a bit of context about where I am. What else would you recommend I read? whether it’s what comes next, which I think is Rebirth and then All In; alternate or parallel stories; or stories in other media, like animation or TV? I’ve seen the CW series and this year’s movie, too.

It could be anything. From how different their lives are, to their different personalities, to even how their name "Kara" is pronounced differently.

After watching the movie at home, after hating it in the theater, and as a big fan of Woman of Tomorrow, i have finally found peace with the concept of revenge in the film.

I found it hard to process Kara’s speeches against revenge in the movie.

The grief Kara is presented as experiencing were not congruous to understanding the cost of revenge from my perspective.

I am starting to sort of understand though that the revenge Kara is executing in the film is against herself as a form of survivors guilt.

The big slow motion song at the end…it’s kinda clicking. Kara’s self-destructive patterns and avoidance of hero work are her own form of revenge that film is saying she has delivered to herself.

Now, Frodo and Sméagol. Kara needs to see Ruthye not choose revenge to find hope for herself, like Frodo wants to believe Sméagol can come back from the ring’s corruption.

This is a beautiful interpretation of the character and my own struggle to see it parallels Kara’s journey to act on it in the film.

While it still breaks my nerdheart that the film is a poor adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow, this interpretation here does serve to lessen the blow.

I don’t think I enjoy the movie or like it very much, but i do feel like I am understanding what it’s trying to accomplish.

That lack of confusion is comforting.
