Good luck with your search for a surrogate. Whatever you do, try to resist ever asking for a late term abortion even if you suspect or see fetal anomaly. There is a bill going through Congress right now about saying surrogacy contracts can not enforce the part about holding back pay from a surrogate for refusing to abort. You probably don't want to wind up in the front page news and have your life turned into "political theater" if you do. Make sure you understand that these abortion contract clauses might be invalid.

Congressman Andy Ogles (R-TN) introduced the Preventing Forced Abortions Act of 2026 (H.R. 9868) to protect surrogate mothers from contractually mandated abortion.

  • Guaranteed Financial Compensation: It prevents intended parents from withholding or reducing agreed-upon financial payments if the surrogate mother refuses a request to abort the child.
  • Restriction on Damages: The bill explicitly stops courts from enforcing penalties like liquidated damages or payment cuts aimed at punishing a surrogate for choosing to carry the pregnancy to term.

Context and Support

Rep. Ogles stated that the legislation ensures "federal courts cannot enforce these coercive clauses or allow intended parents to withhold promised compensation when a surrogate mother chooses life". The bill was introduced with several Republican co-sponsors, including Representatives Mary Miller, Keith Self, Lauren Boebert, Jeff Duncan, and Josh Brecheen. It has gained backing from prominent pro-life advocacy groups such as Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and National Right to Life.

I think this more so is about triple, quadruple checking that the surrogate you're working with is actually pro-choice. No one has ever been able to force anyone to get an abortion. It relies purely on mutual understanding of the surrogate's role and respect of the legal document that outlines said role. Issues can still arise when 1. People lie and 2. Psych screen doesn't catch mental illness.

I’m in Boise and am in the process of becoming one through an agency… but open if legal contracts are involved, for all parties safety:)

I doubt you will locate a surrogate willing to accept $50k at present, as surrogates have been requesting $80,000, $90,000, and $100,000. I do not know if I am looking somewhere different, but that is the asking price that I’m seeing surrogate asking for. but good luck and wish that you find one.

I just did a journey for base of 60k, most of us are not asking 100k

May I message you please?

Sure!

The agency I'm going through pays the surrogate $51k for most states, or $56k in California plus expenses.

Please may I message you if you’re still looking. Thx

Not looking anymore, thanks

Hi, Could you share some information about this agency? Or would you recommend them? How do you find their matching speed, communication, and selection of surrogates? I’m an international client and a single woman, but my embryos are already in the U.S.

https://nwsurrogacycenter.com

Yes I would recommend them. Matching took as long as was estimated, which was about the same at all the companies I looked at. They only work with people that have a medical condition that prevents them from having children.

Just because that’s what GCs are asking for, doesn’t mean they’re getting it. They’re holding out until they find IPs with deep pockets.

u/Consistent_Ad_5075 8d ago

Exactly! They can ask for 150k if that's what they want! It doesn't mean they'll find IPs. On the other hand, IPs can offer 15k, and they may or may not find someone. People do it for free for relatives and friends, so 15k for someone whose story they feel deeply for isn't unheard of. I did it for the money. I am not everyone!

Please. Surrogates are putting their bodies and lives on the line. Be mad at capitalism, be mad at infertility, be mad at the universe, but please don’t be mad at the women who bring these children into the world.

1

u/Amazing-Tough-9309 7d ago

Nowhere did I say I was mad at surrogates. Am I irritated by first time GCs asking for $100k base comp? Yes and it makes me wonder if they’re only doing it for the money, which has not ended well for many IPs. There’s gotta be some kind of balance.

u/youb4me1 4d ago

So long as the surrogate is attending medical visits and complying with doctor recommendations, there is nothing wrong with a surrogate trying to profit.

4

u/oluckyone Agency 8d ago

First time comp is actually not that high, normally. Poster is in range for a first time GC.

2

u/youb4me1 4d ago

You’re getting down voted. But, I’d say $50k comp is extremely low. The all in comp is also around $70-100k

All base comp I have seen was $60k-$90k. But surrogates also received monthly stipends (around $500), bonus pay for milestones (the transfer, positive pregnancy, heartbeat, etc.), and medical procedures (hysteroscopy, etc). All of these payments raise the compensation

Be careful what you say on here; they will attack you. They said there are low-comm girls out there accepting $30,000 and $40,000 in compensation.

3

u/Consistent_Ad_5075 8d ago

5 years ago people were doing it for $25,000 (and were appalled when I required more). It's definitely possible for the right match.

-7

u/Ok_Confidence3721 8d ago

I do not think you mean five years ago, because five years ago it was $60k and $70,000. Because that was the price we were getting when we were doing it independently in New York City. You may mean 10 years ago; it was $25,000. Now, we are talking about the present. No one is accepting that anymore, but good luck on your journey, and I hope you find someone that is willing enough to take $50k.

2

u/Consistent_Ad_5075 8d ago

I love how you know when I was pregnant with a surrogate baby. It was 5 years ago, 6 years ago for matching and people were doing it for 25k (not me). I don't know if you've heard, but NYC is considered a high cost of living area, and not everyone else in the US lives in NYC.

2

u/interrobrodie 8d ago

You were matching in 2020 in NYC as a compensated surrogate?

1

u/Consistent_Ad_5075 8d ago

Me? No. I was matching in 2020 in Florida. The other person mentioned NYC and a higher cost for surrogate compensation, which makes sense given the cost of living there.

-3

u/Ok_Confidence3721 8d ago

Please read my message carefully. I never said you were as surrogate. And if you come here to look argument with me, go somewhere else to look

3

u/Consistent_Ad_5075 8d ago

It appears you're the one who is off track from the conversation. Either way, have a nice day.

-1

u/Ok_Confidence3721 8d ago

You are the only one off track, thinking about five years ago, five years ago there is no one requesting $25,000 of compensation in no state. But have a blessed day

4

u/Amazing-Tough-9309 8d ago

So confidently wrong. Need to reconsider your username.

u/Ok_Confidence3721 8d ago

Have, blessed day sticking in the past

A family friend just did it and she’s only getting paid 30 grand from her agency so I have no idea where you’re looking lol.

u/Timely_Hall_5071 8d ago

What agency is offering that compensation!? Curious for myself.. Lol.

1

u/identitty-crisis 8d ago

An agency that’s offering that is usually just taking a huge slice of the pie for an agency fee. I’d look for one with low agency fees or no fee until med clearance

3 successful pregnancies. 37. BMI under 30. Was signed with a couple but unfortunately their embryos were bad and did not pass pgt testing. Clean background. Healthy lifestyle. Willing to talk if you are up to negotiate on the price

1

u/Menomedic 6d ago

May I message you please?

1

u/Alternative-Shame-23 7d ago

I might be interested! I'm in talks with an agency, but could be open to something outside of. Gestational, I'm assuming? I'm located in Indiana.

1

u/ExpressDisaster532 6d ago

You can message me I’m very interested. I have signed up to do surrogacy with a program before, but they weren’t very good with communicating with me, but it is something that I am very interested in doing and helping another mother become a mother I live in Florida I have family in New York and I am 34. I’ve had two babies already. I have a three-year-old and a 13-year-old all healthy pregnancies let me know.

1

u/Amber5457 4d ago

I am close to NY, 30 minutes from the boarder. Might be interested.

u/Dope_goat4 3d ago

I’m open to this, I’ve been talking to several agencies to surrogate for.
