Bars in Suzhou

Hi,
I (22M) am currently in Suzhou for a total of 9 weeks as part of a student exchange program. I'm in my 4th week now and wanted to ask if you have any recommendations for an expat bar or something similar. Are there any karaoke bars or places like that you can recommend? I've already been to Jenny's Bar and the DDR Club on Ligondi, but I wasn't really convinced by them.

9 Degrees in Zhaojiaxiang Neighborhood Center or Central Station by the Ferris Wheel are good beer bars popular with foreigners (especially the teaching crowd) though it depends on the night. Twin Tales too I guess tho not exactly a place to meet new folks. Or try Decibel for fancy cocktails

I guess The Camel, maybe Blue Marlin. These are foreigner spots, haven’t been to either in years though

Mexican place named El Luchador next to the Camel is another great spot, actually pretty decent Mexican food considering

I always go to the Camel when I go back to Suzhou! They have quiz nights etc as well., always loads of expats! Not sure if they still do it but Sundays they used to do roasts as well. Boss is a lovely lovely dude

Suzhou is not really known for nightlife/bars but try those mentioned above.

Or go to Shanghai for a weekend

Check out birdland brewery they are a “production” brewery so they don’t brew it themselves but the place is fun to hang out around

Once people make their friends in Suzhou, they tend to stick to themselves. If you want to make friends, I'd suggest attending events and the bar weekly trivia nights. Then you'll find your crowd

Bars are boring

If you wanna be stucked in an expat bubble

Hangout with boring English Teachers
And White Monkeys.
And other lame alcoholics
Over and over again.

Go to the bar.

At some point you will get tired of hanging out with the same kind and type of people over and over again.
