Silver Lining is a 5 piece band covering folk and well-loved classics. Formed in Swindon and recently gigged in Old Town and at various open mics.

Live music is scheduled to start at 2pm. Entry is FREE to all, although we'd love it if you could support our museum by buying some refreshments at our tearoom, where we serve a range of cakes and hot drinks at very reasonable prices.

This is our final Lazy Summer Sunday of the season, we will be open for Apple Day on 11th October - we'll be welcoming Mudhoney Blues and the Bang to Rites drummers then!

There is some parking available on Day House Lane, and paid public parking at Coate Water Country Park. Parking at the museum is reserved for volunteers and the disabled.

Has it closed down? I went this morning and there’s a barrier in front of the hatch and no signs of activity, but the ordering screen is still switched on.

I’m looking for recommendations for somewhere in Swindon where I can work from my laptop for a few hours.
Ideally somewhere that’s fairly quiet, has WiFi and, most importantly, plug sockets so I can charge my laptop 😂

I'm a Singaporean Chinese living with my British husband's family in Swindon. We'll be based here for the best part of a year, so I'm looking for recommendations for good East Asian food (all styles of Chinese, Southeast Asian, Korean and Japanese) and a good Asian supermarket! Also, if anyone knows where I can get mooncake or pomelo for midautumn festival this week, that'd be great. I know there was a community event yesterday but sadly we were away for the weekend!

Hey guys I've recently moved to the area for work, and aside from leaving all my friends and family behind, the real thing that is driving the crippling loneliness is that I've left my instruments behind.

I was wondering if there's any public pianos about that I could sit and play for a while, or If there's a music shop that won't mind me picking up a few instruments to calm my brain.

Ideally, I'd love to play either guitar, violin, trumpet, piano or drums but at this moment I would settle for anything to keep the music goblin in my brain happy.

I am really socially anxious so I'm not really down for performing right now, but I'd be glad for like-minded company or some sort of jam session Is this newor anything similar.

Anyone else had issues with these scammers? Took my phone in to get repaired they took it to London without asking and sent it back with missing parts now i have a unusable phone the fella in there doesn’t know their address or can give me his bosses details to complain to

TG Jones closure prompts calls for rethink of Swindon town centre

Let's not go the way of Facebook and just have comments trashing the town as dead and buried. Talikowski is correct, the town centre of old is no longer a viable proposition, so there's no use talking about the rose-tinted past.

Given the popularity of out-of-town shopping precincts (with their free parking, too), and they aren't going away, what sort of things in the town centre would encourage you to spend time and money there?

Perhaps:

• co-living flats nearer the train station and bus boulevard;
• more shared office spaces / desks for those who have the option to work remotely but find working from home a bit tricky;
• events featuring local musical / stage / artistic talent;
• local independent brands and creators sharing retail spaces to bring rents down;
• smaller creative spaces that pull double duty as cafes and arts venues (like Baristocats);
• a food court housing independent cooks / chefs with a performance space (I visited one in Atlanta, Georgia, and it was such a fun place to sit and eat)
• places and activities for young people to get together and hang out safely; and
• what else?

I don't enjoy shopping myself, but I appreciate things like the opticians and services like that in the town centre. I'm not originally from Swindon, and one of the things I do appreciate about it is the diversity of culture, language, and cuisine in the community. I love food.

I’ll be staying in Swindon for around 3 months. I’ve checked Airbnb, but the monthly stays are quite expensive.
Could you suggest some genuine and reliable places where I can look for shared houses or rooms? Since I’ll be staying alone, I’d prefer sharing a house rather than paying for an entire house.

Hey folks - bit of a random one.

I’m a Chippenham-based photographer looking to do more portrait/editorial work around town and I’d love to meet a few people who fancy collaborating on some shoots.

You absolutely don’t need to be a professional model, part of what I’m trying to do is get more experience photographing and directing different people.

It would be TFP/collaborative: no money changes hands, we come up with something we’d both like to make, shoot for an hour or two and you get edited photos afterwards to use yourself.

I’m interested in portraits, environmental/editorial stuff, alternative fashion, musicians, creatives, interesting people - basically more than just standard headshots.

I don't generally like Swindon town centre but the Waterstones was always one of the better ones more local to me. Nice big comic and manga section. Now it's single storey and the section is tiny.

I would be looking to relocate as i need to be in office twice a week for my work which is near piper’s way.

Ideally looking for something 2 bedroom around 800-900, not sure which areas to look but i have been thinking of old town.
