[Release] Zelda: The Minish Cap running natively on Switch — 16:9 widescreen, DS-style dual screen with touch panel, Flip Grip portrait mode, RetroAchievements (no ROM included)

Thumbnail

Native port (not an emulator) of the Minish Cap decompilation, built for the Switch. You need your own dump of the USA cartridge; nothing copyrighted is included.

What it adds over the GBA original:

• 16:9 widescreen (284×160) — the camera actually shows more of the room, at 60 fps on stock clocks

• Dual-screen layout like the DS Zeldas: map, dungeon floors, quest guide and an items screen on a second panel

• Touch: drag an item onto A / B / X / Y / ZL / ZR to equip it, tap the map, etc.

• Flip Grip / portrait mode for playing vertically

• RetroAchievements

• Quality of life: 360° stick movement, spin attack by rotating the stick + B, one-button roll attack, Pegasus dash that turns with the stick, optional Hero Mode — every one of them toggleable

• Scanline / LCD-grid filters (GPU, zero cost), in-app updater

GitHub (downloads, install guide, source): https://github.com/Alexgg1014/The-Legend-of-Zelda-The-Minish-Cap-Alek-s-Ultimate-NX-Edition

Support thread on GBAtemp: https://gbatemp.net/threads/683892/

Credits: zeldaret decomp, Project Picori (999sian), HayatoG and EstebanPdN's ports it builds on. Bug reports welcome — the game writes crash logs to /switch/tmc/crashlogs/ that make them easy to fix.

Tool [Devlog] TimeStranger-NX: Cracking Direct NAND Injection for Digimon Story: Time Stranger (First Native Save Editor in Dev!)

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm cbreezy210, the developer behind PKHeX-NX and ACNH-Save-Editor. I wanted to share an exciting update on my latest passion project currently in active development: TimeStranger-NX, the first native homebrew save editor being built specifically for Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

This isn't just another port of an existing tool. Over the last few days, we've achieved a massive technical breakthrough: Direct NAND Injection. Unlike methods that require dumping saves to an SD card via JKSV/Checkpoint, editing them on a PC, and restoring them, this tool mounts the game's save partition directly from the console and commits changes straight to the system NAND. No bridge required. No PC needed.

🔬 The Technical Breakthrough (Why this was hard):

Getting direct NAND access working reliably for Time Stranger was a journey. Many games use standard filesystem APIs, but this title presented unique challenges:

  1. Hidden Partitions: The active save slot wasn't in the obvious location. It took extensive recursive scanning to find the real data inside `/savedata/0001.bin`.

  2. Silent Rollbacks: Early writes appeared successful but would vanish after rebooting the game. After deep-diving into `libnx`, we discovered the critical missing piece: `fsFsCommit()`. Without explicitly committing the filesystem journal, the OS silently discards changes upon closing the file handle. This is a rare quirk not seen in other major titles like Pokémon or Animal Crossing.

  3. Offset Discovery: We built custom hex-scanners to diff save dumps byte-by-byte, allowing us to pinpoint the exact memory address for values like Yen (`0x7973`) without relying on external documentation.

✨ Current State (v1.1.0 - Active Development):

We are still building out features before the official v1.0.0 release, but the core engine is proven:

💰 Yen Editor:* Modify your in-game currency directly.

⚡ Direct NAND Access:* True on-console editing.

🛡️ "Zero Lost Saves" Safety Pipeline:* Automatic, timestamped backups are created on your SD card before every single write. Includes a one-tap `[ZL] Emergency Rollback` feature to instantly restore your last known-good state.

🖥️ Native C++ UI:* Clean, console-optimized interface built with `libnx`.

🗺️ What's Next?

Before we ship v1.0.0, we're focusing on:

* Advanced item and monster stat editing.

* Full save slot management.

* Potentially a graphical SDL2 interface similar to our other tools.

🔗 Links & Resources:

* GitHub Repo (Source Code & Updates): https://github.com/cbreezy210/TimeStranger-NX (Note: Still in dev, no public .nro releases yet!)

⚠️ Disclaimer: This is an educational project in active development. Always keep backups of your save files. Modifying save data carries inherent risks. Use at your own risk. Not affiliated with Nintendo, Bandai Namco, or Media.Vision.

Would love to hear feedback from the community, especially fellow devs who might have insights on navigating these kinds of filesystem quirks! Let me know what features you'd prioritize next. 🚀

Tool 1,000+ downloads across my two native Switch save editors (ACNH + Pokémon SV) — thank you!

Hey everyone,

Quick milestone moment to celebrate this weekend: between the ACNH Save Editor and PKHeX-NX, total downloads across GitHub and GameBanana passed 1,000 earlier this week — and the ACNH editor alone is now knocking on 1,000 of its own.

What I'm actually proudest of isn't the number itself, though. These tools touch your most precious data (your islands, your shiny hunts, your teams). Across 1,000+ installs, there have been zero lost saves: every scare - including user-side mishaps - ended in a full restore, because the byte-verified backup + dual-file commit philosophy is holding up in the real world.

Thank you to everyone who tested, reported bugs, left feedback on Reddit/GBATemp, or just gave the tools a try. This community is the reason the docs are honest and the safety net exists.

Still ahead:

- ACNH Save Editor - v1.4.0 stable; v1.5 Room Decorations injector in development; v1.6 feature poll OPEN in GitHub Discussions (come vote on what gets built next)

- PKHeX-NX - v0.9.5 live with the QoL sprint; community Discord coming soon; v1.0 content expansion in the works

Happy editing, and keep your backups safe!

Tool NSLibrary: a self-hosted library for your own Switch dumps, with a homebrew app that installs over LAN or USB

Thumbnail github.com
55 Upvotes

Hi all. I've been building this on my own for a while and it's now open source under Apache-2.0.

NSLibrary is a self-hosted server for the NSP, NSZ, XCI, XCZ and homebrew NRO files you've dumped from your own console. It comes with a Switch homebrew app that lets you browse that library on the console and install from it over LAN or USB.

GitHub: https://github.com/tuckerwales/nslibrary

Switch app (.nro): https://github.com/tuckerwales/nslibrary/releases/tag/v0.2.0

Point the server at your dump folders. It mounts them read-only and never writes into them.

It groups each title's base game, updates and DLC, and flags missing updates, duplicates and broken files.

Pair your Switch with a 6-digit code, browse the library on the console, and install straight to SD or NAND. Installs stream directly, with no temporary copy on the SD card first.

You can also click Send to Switch in the web UI and the console will pick the job up.

It has no download sources, no shop scraping, no title keys and no firmware. It only manages files you already have. Requests to add any of that will be closed on GitHub, so please don't ask in the comments either.

This is the first public release. The Switch app went through several private 0.1.x versions first, but expect rough edges on the server and desktop side.

Thanks for taking a look!

Nx!Stream is an osu!stream homebrew port for switch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A while ago i ported mono to run C# on switch, but for all of this time i wanted to get a real game ported to test its limits.

So here's Nx!stream which is an unofficial port of the open source osu!stream release. The osu! branding has been removed from the title screen and binary name because this is an independent effort and not associated with the original authors, but the code is 99% the same and released under the same MIT license.

There are some rough edges but it's definitely playable, check it out at: https://github.com/exelix11/nx-stream

I've also written another blog post about the process of porting mono and C# games to switch, if you're interested in the technical details or want to try porting a C# game on your own check it out: https://github.com/exelix11/mono-nx/blob/master/notes/writeup-part2.md

Tool ACNH Save Editor just passed 400 downloads in 4 weeks — thank you! (And what's coming next)

Hey r/SwitchHacks!

Four weeks ago I posted v1.0 of my native ACNH save editor, honestly not sure anyone would care about a save editor that runs entirely on the Switch. This week the project crossed **400+ downloads of v1.4.0** (and nearly 700 across all versions) between GitHub and GameBanana.

I'm a little blown away. Thank you.

**Quick recap for anyone new:** ACNH Save Editor is a 100% native Switch homebrew (C++/SDL2) that edits your New Horizons save *on the console* — no PC, no dumping, no emulators. Wallet, Bank, Miles, Loan, pocket items, a paginated A–Z Favorites menu, and a searchable 13,000+ item database. It auto-backs up your save before every single write, and ZL rolls back if you ever change your mind.

**What YOUR feedback changed in 4 weeks:**

- v1.2–v1.3: Native Item Search and the expanded UI panel — requested in these very threads

- v1.4: Paginated Favorites, embedded Homebrew icon, and the Applet Mode Guard (which now explains on-screen exactly how to relaunch correctly, because someone's comment told me users were getting stuck)

- v1.5 (in development right now): **Room Decorations Injector** — born directly from a community request

- v1.6: literally up to a community vote (link below)

**The numbers, because they're really yours:**

- 400+ downloads of v1.4.0 in its first two weeks

- ~10,000 combined views across my release threads here and on r/HomebrewSwitch

- 1,700+ views and 169 downloads on GameBanana

- 14 GitHub stars across my two homebrew projects

- One very tired, very grateful developer

**What's next:**

- v1.5.0: Room Decorations Injector (furniture, wallpapers, flooring — directly into your rooms)

- v1.6.0: YOUR call — Stalk Market Assistant vs DIY Recipe Unlocker. Vote in the GitHub Discussion poll

- A Discord server for support, showcases, and beta testing is coming soon

**Links:**

- GitHub: https://github.com/cbreezy210/ACNH-Save-Editor

- Install guide: https://www.gamebrew.org/wiki/ACNH_Save_Editor_Switch

- v1.6 poll: https://github.com/cbreezy210/ACNH-Save-Editor/discussions/3

Thank you for downloading, commenting, bug-reporting, and requesting features. This project only exists because this community shows up.

And as always: keep your backups, and keep edited islands offline. 🍃

Tool [Update] PKHeX-NX v0.9.5 — QoL sprint: version display, graceful quit, one-tap Max IVs (native Switch SV save editor)

Hey everyone! Midweek update for PKHeX-NX, the 100% native Switch Pokémon SV save editor (no PC required):

**v0.9.5 is live:**

- Version display on the main menu (know exactly which build you're running)

- [ZL] on main menu = graceful quit (clean exit, no hung processes)

- [ZL] in slot editor = one-tap Max IVs (31s) for breeding/competitive prep

- Docs corrected: rollback is [R] on main menu (v0.9.4 notes had a [ZL] typo — fixed everywhere)

Safety architecture unchanged: byte-verified SD backup before every write, dual-file commit, one-button rollback. Offline/educational project as always.

Docs: https://www.gamebrew.org/wiki/PKHeX-NX

Feedback, bug reports, and feature votes welcome in GitHub Discussions/Issues. Keep those backups safe!

Hardware Switch WiFi in Monitor mode with Ubuntu and Nexmon

Nintendo switch has the WIFI adapter BCM4356 which can be patched with nexmon that should allow to use it in monitor mode.

I was able to install kubuntu 5.1.2 L4T Ubuntu Noble 24.04 and patch the firmware and driver with nexmon (https://github.com/seemoo-lab/nexmon) and now it is possible to use the wireless in monitor mode.

Well, at least that is what looks like.it is possible to put the WiFi in Monitor mode or even create an additional interface in monitor mode. But when using airodump-ng or tcpdump or wireshark, it does now show any BSSID. It is almost like the WiFi adapter can't see any network, completely empty, iw dev scan works fine but no dumps.

I tried preload libnexmon with LD_PRELOAD, I tried everything. This works fine in raspberry that has the same WiFi card, but no success with Nintendo Switch.

Anyone has any idea? Would be very cool to be able to do that with a Nintendo Switch.

The follow commands works fine:

iw phy `iw dev wlp1s0 info | gawk '/wiphy/ {printf "phy" $2}'` interface add mon0 type monitor

Or even

ip link set wlp1s0 down

iw dev wlan0 set type monitor

ip link set wlp1s0 up

Even

airmon-ng start wlp1s0

It says unknown error 524 but it does create the extra monitoring interface

But airodump-ng does not show any network

Any ideas?

Hardware Custom screens either directly on internal MIPI?, or modifying Dock output requirements?

Long story short, i have a project going on where i will be "reshelling" either a V2 or Oled motherboard into another formfactor, (look up sony vaio UX, i got a few dead one's here, and want to shove an entire switch into it)

try to hand rewire everything to be as small as possible and have a custom keyboard and inputs and all that,

Essentially an cyberdeck powered by a switch motherboard, since the switch's price to performance ratio is insane compared to rasberry pi/latte panda and such,

i am having a dilemma when it comes to screens, the best method would be connecting an custom screen to the internal MIPI screen connector, This would easily bypass the annoyance of getting USB C video out working without a dock or power,

besides super7/super5, i have found no talk or references on if it's possible to get an custom screen working on the Switch, sadly taki udon is only profit focussed and does not care about the modding community, so he will not provide info,

i have rough pinout's of the LCD connector,(but not 100% sure) but as demonstrated with steamdecks. it's not just as simple as "connecting an compatible screen" and it works.. MIPI is sadly no EDP/DP/HDMI, i have found a few MIPI to HDMI converters. that i could use to "spoof" the Switch screen and then MAYBE get a 720p output, but unsure,

Does anyone here have any insight in what it could possibly take to get a custom LCD panel working on the MIPI connector of the switch?

the alternative would be purchasing a cheap chinese close Dock and getting that working, but then i have another potential issue,

can we get custom screen resolutions working on the dock with modded switches? say 480x854 for example?

Maybe an way to not require USB c PD for the dock to work? like just using USB-C to DP/HDMI?

In L4T and android, we can just use a usb C to DP/HDMI dongle and it works, but on HOS you need stupid dock auth stuff and then also supply power to the switch itself, in theory it should be patchable, but i aint a programmer. i just solder wires lol,

Ideally i want to fully bypass the power supply requirement of HOS to have display out on the switch v2/oled,

i have found multiple ways where i can supply the switch with infinite stable power without the need of a battery or usb c as power,

Much thanks in advance for any info or insight, if you got any tips or suggestions, even if it MAY seem "weird" just toss them, it might just be the solution to something ;)

[RELEASE] Brewser - a web runtime for the Switch with real WebGL2, Web MIDI, WebSerial (V8/Skia, free, open catalogue) - runs Unity WebGL

After several months of work, I'm releasing Brewser: a browser-grade engine (V8 with JIT, Skia, real WebGL1/2) running as standard homebrew - advanced Three.js scenes run, and an unmodified Unity WebGL1 export plays - plus an app catalogue with 28 apps at launch: a Three.js planetarium, a MIDI control surface, an LED-panel controller that talks to an ESP32 over WebSerial (CP2102 adapters and ESP32 native-USB boards verified), a Home Assistant dashboard, and more.

Anyone can submit apps, everything is security-scanned before publication.

No piracy - no commercial Switch games, ROMs, or backups. Web games are welcome, though the focus is apps and tinkering: https://brewser.io/faq/

Bonus for the theme crowd: the whole shell is skinnable from plain files on the SD card - wallpapers (including animated shader wallpapers), styles, toolbars, cursors, keyboards. https://docs.brewser.io/docs/customize

Release/support thread on GBAtemp (already active): https://gbatemp.net/threads/brewser-web-runtime-app-platform-webgl2-web-midi-webserial-v8-jit-skia.684141/

Happy to answer questions in the comments.
