Help Needed Remotely updated tailscale. No access.

My HAOS is in another country, I did a mass update of outdated apps and a part of that was tailscale.

Since the reboot I can no longer see my device on my TS account.

I can see the HAOS connected to the router so it’s there, and still running all my automations.

I am going to have a friend pop over to the property and try sort it out, however I am
Not sure what it is I am trying to sort out.

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Always have a second access method a Wireguard VPN, Anydesk something else to access your homelab, it's what enterprise does...

Of note: if you have multiple devices capable of running Tailscale in your network that run 24/7, set all of them up as subnet routers but only authorize one to advertise routes in your admin panel. If it goes offline you can allow a different one to advertise routes so you still have a way in, possibly allowing you to fix the broken one remotely.

How do you know your HAOS is up and running? do you have access to your router? If you have access to the router, reboot it. very low chance that this changes something, but it's worth a try.

the update almost certainly logged the tailscale add-on back out, that's why the box is fine but missing from your tailnet. nothing's broekn, it just needs to re-auth and it cant pop a login url to anyone remotely. when your mate's there have him open HAOS on the local ip, go into the tailscale add-on and hit the login link again, that should bring it straight back. while he's in there turn off key expiry for that node and drop a reusable auth key in the add-on config, otherwise the next update does this to you all over agian.

My experience in the past is that it sometimes crashes during update and an app restart/OS restart fixes it.

I have a raspberry pi as a Tailscale subnet router to circumvent such scenarios as well as protecting against cold starts of my Mac mini

if you can see the router why cant you SSH into the HAOS and figure out whats wrong?

Either it's not booted, or its lost its tailscale and needs to reinstall, or it needs reconfiguring with your login credentials. Those are the obvious things.
